Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed Fire Ball settled on top of the speed and kept finding for a fifth win from 51 starts at his first ever try over 1,600m. Punted late Cervin stayed on very well to just miss after a wide without cover trip travelling midfield from gate 14. He proved a win last start at the Valley was not a fluke. Smashing Express ran on nicely through the middle for a placing after a wide trip settling three from the rear with late market support. Lapras stayed on well for fourth after a box-seat run. It was a vastly improved effort with a step up in distance. Winning Seven ran on steadily to nearly fill the frame after a one-off trip from midfield. It was another honest effort. Chilli Baba ran on without threatening from behind midfield. He's not easy to get right on his day. Charmander made some headway late without menacing travelling four from the rear. Favourite Special Hedge had little left in the tank 150m out after moving to the lead 350m out following a pace-stalking run. It was another disappointing run despite a downgrade.
