Recap by phillip woo

Never Peter Out got the better of Happydearhappydeer 100m out after a prominent run on the fence for a second mile win following a switch to dirt. Happydearhappydeer grudgingly gave way after skipping clear by a length after reclaiming the lead from Daily Trophy approaching the final bend. He was able to back up a third at massive odds last start and is close to a win. Viva Hunter ran on steadily along the inside for third without threatening the top two after a rails run from midfield. It was a return to form for the seven-year-old. Thesis was unlucky not to get up for at least a placing after getting held up for a run until the 150m following a one-off trip from midfield. He relished the downgrade. Hakka Radiance had his chance after a one-off trip from midfield but only plodded over the last 100m. He might be better suited over 1,800m now. Punted late, Daily Trophy kept on OK after rushing forward three wide from a middle draw to just shade Happydearhappydeer for the lead near the 1,100m. It wasn't a bad effort at his first attempt over the dirt 1,650m.
