Racing Incident Report
Race Nine : (258) - SEA EAGLE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 SIMPLY MAVERICK (H346) J McDonald Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 HAMERON (H265) C Y Ho Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres was held up for clear running when attempting to improve between MIDORI FUJI and GLORIOUS JOURNEY.
Horse No 4 NOISY BOY (J536) B Avdulla Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of B Avdulla, 7th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.
Horse No 5 RISING FROM ASHES (G209) A Hamelin Tongue tie replaced at the Start.
Horse No 6 CHAIN OF GOLD (J138) Z Purton After the event, Z Purton reported that his mount, which was fractious in the barriers, shifted its hood as the start was effected.
He said as a result he repositioned the hood soon after the start.
He added that, in his opinion, CHAIN OF GOLD raced in a disappointing manner as it did at its most recent start and may need a short break before its next race start.
Trainer W K Mo confirmed that the horse will be given a short let-up.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 I CAN (H381) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 GLORIOUS JOURNEY (J137) M Chadwick After the event, M Chadwick reported that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 IVY LEAGUE (H116) L Hewitson Crowded at the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 MIDORI FUJI (J432) B Thompson Jumped only fairly and was crowded.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

I Can tracked and just reeled in Ivy League in the concluding stages for a second course and distance win from six outings this term. Ivy League nearly stole the race after leading from gate four. It was his best effort from five starts but did win off an identical mark last season. Setanta ran on steadily near the inside for third after a rail run in midfield. He has good Valley mile form and does go well fresh. Favourite Simply Maverick only plodded with every chance after a box-seat run. It was another honest run over the Valley 1,650m, Hameron ran on steadily for fifth after settling one off the fence in just worse than midfield. It was an improved effort, but he'll need to drop further in the handicaps. Midori Fuji didn't find much when asked for an effort following a prominent run. It wasn't a bad performance first up in Hong Kong. Noisy Boy ran on steadily without ever looking a threat after a rail run from behind midfield. He wasn't suited by the pace of the race. Glorious Journey beat a few after settling wide towards the rear. Chain Of Gold never got into the act after a one-off trip from behind midfield.
