Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (257) - ALBATROSS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 YEE CHEONG SPIRIT (H379) J McDonald Near the 200 Metres was bumped by UNISON which shifted out.
After the event, J McDonald could offer no explanation for his mount's disappointing performance.
Trainer C S Shum stated that he had been pleased with the horse since its last start win on 20 November 2024 and added that YEE CHEONG SPIRIT may have been disadvantaged by settling back in the field with the pace in the middle stages being run slightly outside of standard time.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of YEE CHEONG SPIRIT was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.
Before being allowed to race again, YEE CHEONG SPIRIT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 2 CIRCUIT DUFFY (J501) Z Purton After the event, Z Purton reported that from a wide barrier he was obliged to make some use of his mount in the early stages to go forward.
He said with CIRCUIT DUFFY carrying an additional 6 lbs tonight, it was not able to finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 CALIFORNIA DEEPLY (G451) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 BRAVE JOY (J307) C Y Ho After the event, C Y Ho reported that approaching the finish his mount shifted out when it shied at the winning post, resulting in him having to stop riding, straighten his mount and being unable to ride it out to the finish.
Horse No 6 LUCKY GENERATIONS (J338) H Bentley Slow to begin.
Horse No 7 REWARDING TWINKLE (J368) M L Yeung After the event, M L Yeung reported that his instructions from the outside barrier were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.
Trainer K L Man confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 8 TRAVEL GOLF (H063) L Ferraris Over the concluding stages was steadied when BRAVE JOY shifted out.
After the event, L Ferraris reported that his mount hung in throughout the event.
Horse No 9 UNISON (H423) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly.
Shifted out near the 200 Metres and was bumped.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
After the event, M F Poon stated that he had some concerns with his mount's action during the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 SHINKANSEN (H277) A Pouchin Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 SUPER ELITE (H247) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.

Favourite California Deeply reeled in long-time leader Happy Tango 60m out after a prominent run one off the fence for a third win at his 31st start. Shinkansen kept on second best but did have every chance after a box-seat run. He's honest sprinting over the Valley 1,200m but isn't a prolific winner. Happy Tango wouldn't go down without a fight after dictating the run from gate seven. It was a good effort with a step up to 1,200m. Lucky Generation jumped out of his skin late through the middle to just take fourth settling fifth last after a slow start. It was an improved effort following a gear change and switch to the Valley at his third career run. Rewarding Twinkle dashed well near the inside to just miss fourth after turning the final bend in second last from gate 12. Newcomer Brave Joy held his ground after a rail run in midfield. He should benefit from the run. You'remyeverything ran on without threatening travelling three from the rear. He likely has his eyes set on Class Five. Yee Cheong Spirit never landed a blow settling four from the rear. It was an out-of-character effort following a win.
