Recap by phillip woo

Punted late, Country Dancer exploded through the middle to come from last at the 400m to edge Same To You for a first win at his 13th start. Same To You was nipped on the wire after clearing to the lead from gate four. The step back to 1,000m nearly worked the oracle. Wind Speeder just missed second prize money after a prominent run along the inside. It was another honest performance this season. Plentiful kept on one-paced after peeling out for a clear run upon straightening after a box-seat run. The extra five pounds took its toll following a win. Dan Attack ran on for fifth from behind midfield. He has the tools to win a race soon in this grade. Ruby Sailing came from near last for fifth. He isn't far off finding a rating bottom. Strive For Glory was on his tippy toes 100m out after working forward three wide to track the speed from gate 10. He had an excuse. Modest Gentleman was disappointing after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He's a difficult one to get right on his day. Both Ace Talent and Philos did a lap of the track after bursting through the gates and were withdrawn on vet advice.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (251) - LARK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 DAN ATTACK (H317) J McDonald In the middle stages raced keenly.

Horse No 2 MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352) H Bentley After the event, H Bentley reported that his mount was unsuited when the pace of the event was run outside of standard time which resulted in MODEST GENTLEMAN racing keenly throughout the early and middle stages.

He said as a result MODEST GENTLEMAN then was unable to run on when placed under pressure in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 LIFE OF STONE (J374) C L Chau Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 4 RUBY SAILING (H347) Z Purton In the early stages raced keenly and for some distance approaching the 700 Metres got its head up when racing between DAN ATTACK and LIFE OF STONE.

When questioned, Z Purton stated that RUBY SAILING jumped only fairly and as a consequence settled further back in the field than instructed.

He said making the Home Turn when following LIFE OF STONE, he elected to shift to that runner's inside to secure clear running as he felt RUBY SAILING was not travelling well enough to improve to the outside on the Home Turn.

He added after being briefly held up RUBY SAILING was able to secure clear running on entering the Home Straight.

Horse No 6 SAME TO YOU (H057) B Avdulla After the event, B Avdulla stated that it was not his intention to lead but with the pace of the event being run outside of standard time in the early stages his mount led the event without being pressured to do so.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 COUNTRY DANCER (H436) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 TIMESTORM (G109) L Ferraris A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 PLENTIFUL (G400) A Atzeni For some distance near the 600 Metres raced tight to the inside of SAME TO YOU (B Avdulla) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.

B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 ACE TALENT (H046) A Badel After being placed in the barriers, when PHILOS broke through the front of the starting gates, ACE TALENT then reacted to that incident and made contact with the front of the starting gates before breaking through and completing the course thereafter when unable to be restrained by its rider.

ACE TALENT was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, ACE TALENT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

Horse No 11 PHILOS (H371) Y L Chung Shortly after being placed in the barriers lunged forward as the blindfold was removed, made heavy contact with the starting gates and broke through, completing the course thereafter when unable to be restrained by its rider.

PHILOS was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

The Stewards ruled that PHILOS will be required to attend barrier practice to the satisfaction of the Starter prior to performing satisfactorily in consecutive barrier trials before being allowed to race again.

Was subsequently noted to have sustained a wound to the left nostril.
