Recap by phillip woo
Fury And Gold produced a perfectly timed run to grab long-time leader Golden Fairy after making his run at the rear of the field for a maiden win at his 11th start. He put the writing on the wall when stepping up to the Valley 2,200m last start. Golden Fairy did everything right but could not get the win after going straight to the front from gate one. He was naturally coming to hand in five prior starts this term. Nice Birdie ran on for third after making his run two from the rear. It was his best effort from five starts this term. Super Hong Kong got going late to take fourth after settling in second last from the widest draw. Palace Pal didn't find much when asked for an effort after settling in midfield and one off the fence following a slow start. He's not genuine. On the Lash was given every chance in the box seat but didn't see out the trip despite dropping in class. Punted late, Mr Aladdin was stopping 150m out after stalking the pace. He needed the outing after failing with a nosebleed in September and is better suited over a shorter distance. Tiger And Gold tamely faded after an ideal one-out, one-back trip.
