Hot favourite Romantic Warrior was prominent one off the fence coming to the final bend before moving to the lead near the 200m and proving too smart, improving his record to 17 wins and a history-making third success in this race from 22 starts. He's now established a world record for prize money. Japan's Liberty Island ran on nicely down the outside for second without threatening the winner after biding her time three from the rear. It was a solid performance at only her second run back following a lengthy break. Another Japanese representative, Tastiera kept on very well for third after going for home on top 400m out following a pace-stalking run one off leading Wingspan. It was a brave effort. British raider The Foxes came from last and down the outside to snatch fourth. It was his best performance to date. Straight Arron stayed on well for fifth prize money after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He was next best of the locals with a step up to 2,000m following two pleasing mile efforts.

Horse No 2 SPIRIT DANCER (K912) O Orr After the 1500 Metres was steadied to avoid STRAIGHT ARRON and as a result shifted out and was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.

Horse No 3 STRAIGHT ARRON (G435) B Avdulla Near the 1500 Metres was taken wider by ROMANTIC WARRIOR which shifted to the outside of ENCOUNTERED.

As a result, STRAIGHT ARRON was steadied to obtain a position with cover behind ROMANTIC WARRIOR.

Horse No 5 CALIF (K914) A De Vries Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 7 THE FOXES (K916) O Murphy Jumped only fairly.

When caught wide in the early stages was steadied to obtain a position with cover.

Horse No 8 ENCOUNTERED (G236) H Bowman On the Home Turn lay in and brushed the running rail.

After the event, H Bowman stated that the intention was to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.

He said ENCOUNTERED jumped well today and went forward without being pressure to do so.

Horse No 9 LIBERTY ISLAND (K917) Y Kawada Shifted out shortly after the start and then was steadied when crowded by ENCOUNTERED which shifted in.
