Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Voyage Bubble sat on the back of leader Beauty Eternal, moved to the lead 250m out and proved too smart to ring up an eighth win and second at Group One level from 20 starts. Soul Rush ran on nicely for second after biding his time two from the rear. Beauty Joy ran on nicely down the outside to grab third in the concluding stages after making his run at the rear from gate 13. Chancheng Glory ran on well near the inside to just get the head down for fourth after a prominent run on the fence. Beauty Eternal ended fifth but was promoted up to fourth on protest after working hard to lead 1,000m out from gate 11. It was an improved effort. Happy Together was upgraded a position to fifth after getting impeded by Changcheng Glory 350m out following a one-off trip from better than midfield. It was another honest performance. Galaxy Patch ran on without threatening after getting impeded once each at the 400m and again at the 300m by Antonio following a patient ride second last from gate 14.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (246) - THE LONGINES HONG KONG MILE - Class G1 - 1600Meters

Horse No 1 SOUL RUSH (J808) J Moreira Shifted in near the 400 Metres and was bumped.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 VOYAGE BUBBLE (E436) J McDonald Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 ANTINO (K909) B Shinn Jumped only fairly.

Approaching the 400 Metres was bumped by SOUL RUSH which shifted in.

K Teetan (CHANCHENG GLORY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 400 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in CHANCHENG GLORY making contact with HAPPY TOGETHER and HAPPY TOGETHER being crowded between CHANCHENG GLORY and JANTAR MANTAR.

Due to the contact HAPPY TOGETHER was taken out which resulted in JANTAR MANTAR making contact with RED LION and RED LION being taken out towards LAZZAT, resulting in LAZZAT shifting out, crowding the running of ANTINO which was checked when crowded between SOUL RUSH and LAZZAT.

K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 18 December 2024 and to expire on Friday, 27 December 2024 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays).

In addition, Jockey Teetan was fined $60,000.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his neutral race riding record.

After the event, B Shinn stated that after having a comfortable run during the race ANTINO commenced to respond to his riding in the early part of the Home Straight, but after striking interference near the 300 Metres was unable to finish the race off thereafter.

Horse No 5 BEAUTY JOY (E058) B Avdulla From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 6 GALAXY PATCH (H399) C Y Ho From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

On the Home Turn was held up for clear running behind ANTINO.

Between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres GALAXY PATCH lay in and was steadied away from ANTINO when positioned close to the heels of that runner.

Between the 200 Metres and the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between ANTINO and BEAUTY JOY which shifted in slightly.

Horse No 7 DOCKLANDS (K902) M Zahra Jumped only fairly.

Near the 350 Metres was steadied to avoid JANTAR MANTAR and then shifted in to obtain clear running.

Horse No 8 HAPPY TOGETHER (G446) A Badel The Stewards considered a protest/objection lodged by A Badel, rider of 6th placegetter, HAPPY TOGETHER, against CHANCHENG GLORY being declared the 4th placegetter alleging interference in the early part of the Home Straight.

After considering the evidence, the Stewards found that making the Home Turn CHANCHENG GLORY shifted to the outside of BEAUTY ETERNAL to obtain clear running and a short distance later then made contact with HAPPY TOGETHER, resulting in HAPPY TOGETHER being badly crowded between JANTAR MANTAR and CHANCHENG GLORY.

As the Stewards were satisfied that had this incident not have occurred that HAPPY TOGETHER would have finished in advance of CHANCHENG GLORY, the protest/objection was sustained and the placings amended to read No.

2, VOYAGE BUBBLE, 1st; No.

1, SOUL RUSH, 2nd; No.

5, BEAUTY JOY, 3rd; No.

4, BEAUTY ETERNAL, 4th; No.

8, HAPPY TOGETHER, 5th; and No.

10, CHANCHENG GLORY, 6th (Also see ANTINO).

Horse No 9 RED LION (H115) H Bowman Prior to declaring weighed-in, the Stewards gave consideration if there were grounds for a protest/objection on behalf of the connections of RED LION due to RED LION being taken out near the 350 Metres.

When the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds having regard to the manner in which RED LION finished the race off and the degree of interference, they elected not to lodge a protest/objection on behalf of the connections.

Horse No 10 CHANCHENG GLORY (H212) K Teetan After the 400 Metres shifted out and made contact with HAPPY TOGETHER for some distance.

K Teetan pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference after the 400 Metres (see ANTINO).

Relegated to 6th placing on protest/objection (see HAPPY TOGETHER).

Horse No 12 JANTAR MANTAR (K910) Y Kawada After the 1000 Metres was bumped and taken out by VOYAGE BUBBLE which shifted to the outside of BEAUTY ETERNAL.

As a result, JANTAR MANTAR raced wide and without cover thereafter.

For some distance approaching the 400 Metres bumped heavily with HAPPY TOGETHER and became unbalanced shortly after when crowded between HAPPY TOGETHER and RED LION.

Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 13 LAZZAT (K901) C Demuro Jumped only fairly.

After the 400 Metres was hampered when taken wider by RED LION.

After the event, C Demuro stated that his instructions were to endeavour to lead.

He said LAZZAT jumped only fairly and did not stretch out in the early stages despite his efforts to comply with his instructions.

He said, in his opinion, LAZZAT would appreciate a surface with more give in it.
