Racing Incident Report
Race Three : (214) - RAEBURN PLACE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 HANDSOME BOMB (H402) C L Chau In the early stages raced keenly.
After the event, C L Chau stated that with his mount having its first race start at Happy Valley, he was instructed to ride HANDSOME BOMB in a midfield position.
Trainer W Y So confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 2 ESCAPE ROUTE (E273) J McDonald Shortly after the start was bumped and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the event, J McDonald stated that his mount settled back and found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight due to the early pace of the event being run outside of standard time in the early stages.
He added in the circumstances he was not too disappointed with the performance of ESCAPE ROUTE.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 SILVER KING (H420) K C Leung Approaching the 400 Metres was taken wider by MILES AWAY which shifted out to improve.
Horse No 4 HAPPY AGAIN (J117) M Chadwick When caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward where it obtained a position outside the lead near the 1200 Metres.
Leaving the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between SILVER KING and DRAGON DELIGHT (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted out.
Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 6 TURIN WARRIOR (G150) Z Purton Shortly after the start was crowded between ESCAPE ROUTE and HANDSOME BOMB which shifted out.
For some distance near the 250 Metres raced tight between CLASSIC CENTURY and TO INFINITY which was taken in slightly by HAPPY AGAIN.

Horse No 7 ATOMIC BEAUTY (H066) B Avdulla Taken wider approaching the 400 Metres.
Near the 50 Metres lay in, resulting in its rider B Avdulla having to stop riding for a short distance and straighten his mount.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 TO INFINITY (G277) H Bowman Making the Home Turn was held up for clear running and approaching the 300 Metres raced tight to the inside of HAPPY AGAIN which shifted in slightly.
Over the final 50 Metres could not be ridden out when positioned close to ATOMIC BEAUTY.
Horse No 9 AMAZING AWARD (J236) B Thompson Blundered on jumping and as a result became unbalanced.
Horse No 10 DRAGON DELIGHT (G395) E C W Wong Shortly after the start blundered.

Horse No 11 MILES AWAY (J221) C Y Ho When commencing to give ground after the 350 Metres was steadied when awkwardly placed between SILVER KING and HAPPY AGAIN which shifted out when it made the turn awkwardly.
Horse No 12 GOLD TACK (H106) A Badel From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Turin Warrior was ridden patiently in third last from gate 10 and got the gaps when required near the inside to get up 50m out for a second win at his 34th start. Atomic Beauty found one just too good after working to the lead down the outside 150m out following a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was a better effort. Classic Century stayed on a close third after a box-seat run. He's heading in the right direction after running well in one of two earlier runs over shorter distances at Sha Tin. Favourite Dragon Delight gradually faded after setting slow early fractions from gate four. It was another honest performance. Amazing Award ran on nicely to nearly fill the frame after a rails run from behind midfield. He might be crying out for 1,800m after finding the line well in his past two starts over the Valley 1,650m. Silver King boxed on for sixth after moving to second 200m out following a one-off trip from midfield. It was a better effort. To Infinity just held his ground after a rails run from midfield. Escape Route ran on late to finish next best settling second last from gate 11. The slow pace didn't suit him.
