Recap by phillip woo

Champion Method settled behind midfield on the rails before switching sharply off heels for a clear run 100m out and quickening nicely to get up in the concluding stages, landing a betting plunge. Lean Master ran on nicely along the inside to just deny Ma Comet by a pimple for second after a handy run on the fence. He's a winner waiting to happen following placings in his past two starts. Ma Comet found a couple just too good after briefly poking his head in front 100m out settling third with cover from gate four. He keeps promising without delivering. Circuit Seven dashed nicely down the outside for fourth settling three from the rear from an outside draw. He is a winner waiting to happen from a better draw over the Valley 1,000m. Happy Horse ran on steadily for fifth after a one-off trip from midfield. He will be a live chance of winning shortly in Class Five. Circus Reel ran on reasonably well to finish next best after making his run one from the rear. It was an improved effort at his third career start and first over the Valley 1,000m. Sight Happy ran on without threatening from near the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (179) - HUNG LUEN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 MA COMET (H391) Z Purton When questioned regarding his riding in the early part of the Home Straight and the reason he did not apply full pressure to his mount until near the 200 Metres, Z Purton stated that at its last race start Trainer J Richards was of the opinion that the horse lacked concentration when it was in the lead soon after straightening.

He said tonight he was issued with the instruction not to place his mount under full pressure too soon in an attempt to have MA COMET finish the race off in a strong manner.

He said in accordance with those instructions he remained racing behind NOTTHESILLYONE until near the 200 Metres where he then placed his mount under full pressure.

He further stated that, in his opinion, once MA COMET improved into the lead it once again lacked concentration and did not fully respond to his riding over the concluding stages.

Trainer J Richards confirmed the instructions and expressed satisfaction with the manner in which Jockey Purton had ridden MA COMET.

He added that he would now apply blinkers to MA COMET for its next race start to assist with its concentration over the concluding stages.

Horse No 2 LEAN MASTER (H134) E C W Wong Approaching the 300 Metres was steadied away from VICTORYTHIRTYTHREE.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 VICTORYTHIRTYTHREE (J216) K C Leung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.
