Recap by phillip woo

Speedstar ran on nicely near the outside to just get up after settling one off the fence and behind midfield for a second win from 26 starts. Vulcanus stayed on very well for second after getting posted wide without cover and travelling in midfield from a tricky gate. He has run well for seconds once on each surface from four starts this term. Favourite Cosmo Navigator found a couple just too good after surging to the front 100m out. He's a winner waiting to happen. Fairy Horse came with a run late near the inside to finish fourth after settling in last for the most part. Like the latter, he should get away with a race soon in this grade. Urban Triumph just held his ground after a prominent run along the inside. He doesn't appear from his past two runs to be far off finding a rating bottom. Tattenham ran on without threatening after settling on the rail behind midfield. He will need to drop lower in the handicaps. Country Dancer worked forward from towards the rear to track the leader Hero Star from gate nine but was stopping badly 50m out after claiming the lead near the 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (157) - TAI LAM CHUNG HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 FAIRY HORSE (J144) H Bowman Made contact with the left side of its barrier on jumping and lost ground.

Approaching the 200 Metres was directed to the inside of TATTENHAM to continue into clear running.

Horse No 2 COSMO NAVIGATOR (H156) Y L Chung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 COUNTRY DANCER (H436) Z Purton Bumped at the start.

Near the 50 Metres was steadied when crowded by URBAN TRIUMPH (K C Leung) which, after improving into a tight run to the inside of COSMO NAVIGATOR, was then taken in slightly by that runner.

K C Leung was advised to exercise more care and to ensure there is sufficient racing room when he is improving into runs.

When questioned, Z Purton stated that from an outside barrier he was requested to ensure that his mount began well and use the horse's pace if circumstances permitted.

He said after jumping well he was able to obtain a position outside the leader HERO STAR but COUNTRY DANCER raced keenly in the middle stages and as a result was left without a finishing effort.

Trainer J Size confirmed the instructions issued and agreed with the assessment of Jockey Purton that COUNTRY DANCER raced too keenly during the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 URBAN TRIUMPH (H200) K C Leung For some distance after the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between COUNTRY DANCER and COSMO NAVIGATOR.

Passing the winning post was checked when crowded by COSMO NAVIGATOR (Y L Chung) which, after initially shifting in, was then taken in by VULCANUS (C Y Ho) which was racing tight to the inside of SPEEDSTAR (K Teetan) which shifted in.

Jockeys Chung, Ho and Teetan were advised in similar circumstances they would be expected to stop riding and straighten their mounts.

Horse No 5 GOOD VIEW GLORY (H154) B Avdulla Jumped awkwardly, shifted in, bumped with COUNTRY DANCER and became unbalanced.

Was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier.

K Teetan (SPEEDSTAR) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 150 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of GOOD VIEW GLORY, resulting in GOOD VIEW GLORY losing its running and being checked to avoid the heels of SPEEDSTAR.

K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 27 November 2024 and to expire on Monday, 2 December 2024 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.

Horse No 7 TATTENHAM (H121) A Badel Approaching the 100 Metres endeavoured to obtain a tight run between COSMO NAVIGATOR and VULCANUS.

A short distance later, VULCANUS (C Y Ho) shifted in and crowded the running of TATTENHAM, resulting in TATTENHAM having to be steadied and not being able to be ridden out to the finish of the event.

C Y Ho was reprimanded and advised that he must stop riding and straighten his mounts.

Horse No 8 FALCON COURT (J056) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly, shortly after shifted in and made contact with GOOD VIEW GLORY.

Was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier.

Horse No 9 VULCANUS (J150) C Y Ho Bumped at the start.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

C Y Ho was warned in relation to using his whip forward of the saddle in a forehand manner.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 RATTAN WORLD (G384) A Hamelin After the event, A Hamelin reported that his mount did not travel well at any stage of the event and raced in a disappointing manner.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 SPEEDSTAR (G181) K Teetan K Teetan was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 150 Metres (see GOOD VIEW GLORY).

Sent for sampling post-race.
