Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Glory Elite was too smart after getting his own way in front from the 1,100m for a third career win from nine starts over this course and distance. Lady's Choice just outduelled late-fancied Alonso for second after a pace-stalking run. It was another good effort after winning first up this term. Alsonso just failed to get up for second after a box-seat run. It was an encouraging first run in Hong Kong. Majestic Express ran on steadily for fourth from midfield. It was a pleasing run after getting vetted pre-race. The Storm was on heels late with a move from the rear of the field. It was an encouraging run on his local debut and he prefers a longer trip. Second favourite Packing Turbine ran on without threatening down the outside after settling wide towards the rear from the widest draw. He had an excuse. Phoenix Light made some ground late near the inside after making his run two from the rear. He is likely aiming for a downgrade. Awesome Treasure faded after a one-out, one-back run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight : (154) - SUISSE PROGRAMME HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 GLORY ELITE (H311) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 LADY'S CHOICE (H155) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 PRESTIGE RICKY (K009) A Atzeni Was fractious in the barriers, was removed and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was suitable to race.

Before being allowed to race again, PRESTIGE RICKY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

Jumped only fairly.

In the early stages raced keenly and near the 900 Metres was steadied away from MAJESTIC EXPRESS.

Horse No 4 THE STORM (J126) H Bowman Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with THUNDER PRINCE.

A short distance later was then steadied when crowded between THUNDER PRINCE and LADY'S CHOICE which shifted in slightly.

When commencing to finish the race off well over the concluding stages was held up behind LADY'S CHOICE and as a consequence was unable to be ridden out to the finish of the event.

Horse No 6 ALSONSO (J405) H Bentley Lay out over the final 300 Metres when under pressure.

Horse No 7 THUNDER PRINCE (K017) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and was crowded shortly after the start.

In the middle stages raced keenly and leaving the 900 Metres got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from YOUNG ARROW.

Horse No 9 MAJESTIC EXPRESS (J244) B Avdulla Was fractious in the barriers, was removed and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was suitable to race.

Before being allowed to race again, MAJESTIC EXPRESS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

Had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 350 Metres.

Horse No 10 PACKING TURBINE (J470) Z Purton When questioned, Z Purton stated that on jumping his mount made contact with the left side of its barrier and as a consequence lost some ground.

He said this resulted in PACKING TURBINE settling further back in the field than what had been intended.

He added when placed under pressure in the Home Straight his mount responded satisfactorily to his riding, but, in his opinion, would be better suited by being stepped up in distance for its next race start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, PACKING TURBINE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 11 PHOENIX LIGHT (G192) M Chadwick Shortly after the start was crowded for room between SUPER FORTUNE and AWESOME TREASURE (Apprentice P N Wong) which shifted out whilst being ridden along.

Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and advised that she must correct her mounts when they shift ground on jumping.

In this incident, M Chadwick had his right foot dislodged from his stirrup iron, resulting in Jockey Chadwick becoming unbalanced and PHOENIX LIGHT losing ground.

Leaving the 900 Metres improved to the inside of THUNDER PRINCE when that runner shifted out.

When THUNDER PRINCE was corrected and resumed its position, PHOENIX LIGHT was then steadied to avoid THUNDER PRINCE.

Horse No 12 SUPER FORTUNE (G065) M F Poon Crowded shortly after the start.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
