Race Eight : (136) - ZHAOQING HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 REWARD SMILE (H256) B Avdulla From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the event, B Avdulla stated that his mount made a respiratory noise during the running of the race and coughed post-race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, REWARD SMILE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 2 CELESTIAL COLOURS (H362) H Bowman Shifted in on jumping and was bumped.
Horse No 4 RISING FROM ASHES (G209) H T Mo On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie applied to RISING FROM ASHES was replaced.
Crowded on jumping.
After the 500 Metres, when racing keenly, was steadied away from FIND MY LOVE.
Horse No 5 EQUATORIAL (J128) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Held up for clear running on the Home Turn.
Horse No 6 FIND MY LOVE (H110) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 YOUNG EMPEROR (K011) L Ferraris Over the concluding stages lay in, placing its rider L Ferraris at a disadvantage in that he could not fully test the horse to the finish.
L Ferraris was warned for using his whip forward of the saddle in a forehand manner.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 ROMANTIC SON (J537) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 LUCKY COMBINATION (J512) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 RIGHTEOUS ARION (H059) Y L Chung Over the concluding stages raced tight to the inside of YOUNG EMPEROR.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 11 STAR GLOW (J429) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by BRIGHT DAY which shifted in.

Young Emperor quickened settled five back and three wide with cover before quickening nicely to get up 30m out for a first up success in Hong Kong. He has a bright future. Favourite Romantic Son did everything right but get the win after surging to the lead along the inside 150m out following a prominent run on the fence. Righteous Arion ran on nicely to just miss second prize money after a wide without cover trip from behind midfield. It was another honest performance over the Valley 1,200m. Celestial Colours had to settle for fourth after sitting third with cover coming to the final bend. It was another consistent showing following back-to-back placings at Sha Tin. Rising From Ashes got going late down the outside to finish next best after making his run five back and one off the fence. Bright Day was beaten too far in the end after working like a trojan three wide to eventually sit outside the leader Mega Bonus from a wide draw. Find My Love only plodded after a one-off trip from better than midfield.
