Racing Incident Report
Race Nine : (119) - THE CREATIVE SPIRIT 1600M HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 SO WE SING (J367) B Thompson Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 2 SWEET ENCOUNTER (G426) A Atzeni Bumped on the hindquarters at the start and became unbalanced.
After the event, A Atzeni reported that his instructions were to take up a forward position from the outside barrier.
He said when unable to obtain a position closer to the rail in the early stages, SWEET ENCOUNTER was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of SWEET ENCOUNTER was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SWEET ENCOUNTER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 3 FORTUNATE SON (J446) B Avdulla Shifted out at the start, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
After the event, B Avdulla reported that his mount, which is only lightly raced, did not appreciate racing in amongst other horses and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 ILLUMINOUS (J170) H Bowman Bumped at the start and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 6 WINNING GOLD (H461) K De Melo Blundered on jumping.
After the event, K De Melo reported that his mount responded only fairly when placed under pressure in the Home Straight and he could offer no explanation for its performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 FALLON (H219) Y L Chung Bumped at the start and raced keenly in the early stages.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 STAR MAC (J053) K Teetan Crowded on jumping between SUNSTRIDER and FORTUNATE SON which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 FLAGSHIP WARRIOR (G452) L Hewitson Crowded on jumping between FALLON and SWEET ENCOUNTER, both of which shifted ground.
Near the 1100 Metres commenced to race keenly and as a result got its head up when being checked away from FORTUNATE SON.
FLAGSHIP WARRIOR then continued to race keenly in the middle stages and refused to settle.
Near the 300 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between SWEET ENCOUNTER and SUNSTRIDER.
In this incident, FLAGSHIP WARRIOR made contact with the hindquarters of SUNSTRIDER.
As a result FLAGSHIP WARRIOR did not obtain clear running until near the 150 Metres.
Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions were to take up a forward position from its wide barrier.
Horse No 13 BRAVEHEARTS (H389) M F Poon Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 14 SUNSTRIDER (J168) A Badel Crowded at the start.
From the 800 Metres was taken wider by FLAGSHIP WARRIOR and in this incident made contact with FLAGSHIP WARRIOR.
Near the 300 Metres was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.

Plunged late in betting, Bravehearts travelled one off from behind midfield and showed a good turn of foot to get up 50m out for a first local win at his 10th start. He has improved immensely following a stable change. Fallon came on strongly down the outside after making his run second from the rear to dead-heat for second. It was his best run. Punted late Star Mac came on nicely through the centre settling fourth last to finish level for second. He was fitter third up after showing progress in his first two starts this term. Turin Starspangled stayed on well for fourth after a speed-tracking run from gate 11. It was a good effort carrying eight pounds more following a win. Illuminous came from last with one wider out to just miss the frame. It was another honest performance. Fun Together grudgingly gave way after dictating the run. Sunstrider ran on without threatening. Flagship Warrior was badly held up for a majority of the straight from midfield. Favourite Winning Gold failed to pick up after a rail run from behind midfield.
