Red Elegance just got up in deep stretch with one wider out after getting caught three deep without cover to make it two wins from his past three starts. He continues to raise his game following a move to blinkers. Eternal Fortune nearly caused a shock after poking his head in front 50m out after settling one off the rail in midfield. It was a much-improved effort after a non-threatening debut effort 10 days ago at Sha Tin. Atomic Force stayed on well for third after settling in the box seat. It was a good performance carrying eight pounds more following a win in July. Punted late, Healthy Healthy came from last to just miss a placing. He has made a nice impression in both Valley sprints this term. Allgreektome grudgingly gave way after prompting the pace outside favourite Youthful Spirits. It was a positive showing following a year sidelined with a ligament injury. Heroic Master finished next best down the outside after getting posted four wide without cover travelling behind midfield. Youthful Spirits was a spent force 200m out after driving to the lead 700m out. He could not offset the big weight.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight : (54) - CAUSEWAY BAY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 YOUTHFUL SPIRITS (J082) Z Purton After the event, Z Purton could offer no explanation for his mount's failure to finish the race off in the Home Straight.

Trainer M Newnham stated that, in his opinion, YOUTHFUL SPIRITS was disadvantaged by being pressured in the lead by ALLGREEKTOME and races best when able to dictate terms without being pressured.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a roarer which had previously been reported.

The performance of YOUTHFUL SPIRITS was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, YOUTHFUL SPIRITS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 3 MIDORI GLORY (J248) B Avdulla A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 RED ELEGANCE (H241) M Chadwick Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 7 HEALTHY HEALTHY (H203) C L Chau Crowded shortly after the start between RED ELEGANCE and ETERNAL FORTUNE.

After the event, C L Chau stated that his instructions from a wide barrier were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Horse No 8 HEROIC MASTER (G394) A Atzeni Raced very wide and without cover from after the 700 Metres.

Horse No 10 BITS SUPERSTAR (J362) M F Poon After the event, M F Poon stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position, but not to make use of his mount to do so.

He said when BITS SUPERSTAR began only fairly he elected to settle further back than what it had at its previous race start.

Horse No 11 ETERNAL FORTUNE (K010) L Hewitson Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded by HEROIC MASTER which shifted out and away from MIDORI GLORY.

Horse No 12 SERGEANT PEPPER (E432) A Badel Jumped awkwardly.

After the event, A Badel stated that, in his opinion, SERGEANT PEPPER may not have appreciated being stepped up in the Class 3 company tonight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 O'LINER (H264) H Bowman Withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (colic).

Before being allowed to race again, O'LINER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
