Recap by phillip woo

Devas Twelve repelled a challenge over the final 150m from Dragon Four Seas after going for home on top 250m out for a second win at his ninth start. He is an honest type. Dragon Four Seas stayed on nicely to just miss after a wide without cover trip from midfield. It was an improved effort and he should be winning a race in no time. Satirical Glory ran on nicely along the inside to finish a close third after a rail run from behind midfield. He is always a chance at this level. Chater Gold finished off OK for fourth after getting held up early in the straight following a prominent run along the fence. Mission Voice just plodded over the last 150m after driving to the lead 1,000m out. He couldn't repeat a last start win carrying five pounds more. Class dropper Harmony Galaxy kept on one paced when asked for more after a handy run. Sterling Wongchoy just failed to overhaul Harmony Galaxy for sixth from the rear of the field.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (25) - THE TUNG WAH GROUP OF HOSPITALS CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 HARMONY GALAXY (J266) P N Wong After the 1100 Metres was steadied to avoid TOP PEAK and then raced keenly for some distance thereafter.

Horse No 2 TOP PEAK (H441) C L Chau C L Chau pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference after the 1100 Metres (see CHATER GOLD).

After the event, C L Chau reported that the intention was to find cover, but in the early stages his mount raced keenly and as a result he crossed to lead in the early stages.

He added in the Home Straight TOP PEAK failed to respond to his riding and raced in a disappointing manner.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

The performance of TOP PEAK was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, TOP PEAK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 3 SATIRICAL GLORY (H073) L Hewitson Noted to have a small abrasion to the right hind fetlock at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Jumped awkwardly.

For some distance near the 800 Metres raced keenly and was steadied away from CHATER GOLD.

Horse No 4 DEVAS TWELVE (H435) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 LUCKY IMPACT (J337) K Teetan After the event, K Teetan reported that his mount did not travel at any stage and he was disappointed with its finishing effort.

Trainer F C Lor stated that the horse had pleased him in a barrier trial on 3 September 2024 and the only explanation he could offer was that LUCKY IMPACT may not have run out a strong 1400 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

The performance of LUCKY IMPACT was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race start.

Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY IMPACT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 DRAGON FOUR SEAS (J317) K C Leung Was left racing wide and without cover from the 900 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 CHATER GOLD (J004) H Bentley C L Chau (TOP PEAK) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 1100 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of HARMONY GALAXY, resulting in HARMONY GALAXY being taken in towards CHATER GOLD, causing CHATER GOLD to be unnecessarily crowded for room and to be checked.

C L Chau was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Saturday, 28 September 2024 at Happy Valley.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.

From the 450 Metres until the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.

Horse No 10 STERLING WONGCHOY (H273) A Badel Bumped at the start and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 11 MISTER FOX (J059) B Thompson A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 MILES AWAY (J221) M Chadwick Withdrawn on 14.9.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore).

Before being allowed to race again, MILES AWAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
