Race Six : (826) - MEDIC KINGDOM HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 OWNERS' PRAISE (H047) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 2 THE ABSOLUTE (H438) H Bentley After the race, H Bentley stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position but his mount did not show sufficient pace to do so.
He added THE ABSOLUTE made a respiratory noise during the running of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a roarer which had previously been reported.
Horse No 3 FORTUNE WHISKEY (J153) H T Mo Shortly after the start was crowded by ACE ONE which shifted in and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 STORM LEGEND (G139) E C W Wong From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between HAPPY DAILY and DRAGON FOUR SEAS which shifted out and away from ACE ONE.
Horse No 7 BRILLIANT EXPRESS (J321) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 ACE ONE (G196) Y L Chung After the 350 Metres shifted out when being bumped by AMAZING RUN.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
The performance of ACE ONE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, ACE ONE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 THE AZURE (J227) K C Leung Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 12 HAPPY DAILY (E294) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 14 AMAZING RUN (H401) K Teetan Near the 350 Metres blundered badly after striking the heels of BRILLIANT EXPRESS (H Bowman).
The Stewards established that near the 350 Metres BRILLIANT EXPRESS commenced to improve to the outside of HAPPY DAILY when that runner shifted in towards the rail.
BRILLIANT EXPRESS then shifted out slightly and was contacted on the hindquarters by AMAZING RUN, resulting in BRILLIANT EXPRESS being turned out and its rider H Bowman having to correct his mount.
H Bowman was reprimanded for not making a greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting out.
However, the Stewards were satisfied that the shift out from BRILLIANT EXPRESS was principally due to the contact on its hindquarters.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING RUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No MISTER FOX (J059) K Teetan Withdrawn on 12.7.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (head injury) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter AMAZING RUN.

Punted late Happy Daily got up in the last few strides to just deny favourite Brilliant Express after making his run five back and one off the fence for a fourth career win over 1,400m. He lived up to a closing fourth last start but was a well rated runner. Brilliant Express did everything right but get the win after moving to the lead 120m out following a prominent run on the fence. He is a winner waiting to happen. Fighting Machine came from last and widest out at the top of the straight to finish a close third. He is always a chance over 1,400m. Affirm found a few too good after getting his own way in front as expected from gate three. He has been racing relatively well without winning. Owners' Praise finished well through the middle to just miss the frame after making his run behind midfield on the fence following a sluggish start. It was another honest effort.
