Race Three : (795) - HAWTHORN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
Horse No 2 MA COMET (H391) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 INNOTECH STAR (J103) H T Mo A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 NOTTHESILLYONE (J383) B Avdulla Bumped at the start.
Horse No 5 GRAND NOVA (J323) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 VICTORYTHIRTYTHREE (J216) H Bentley Near the 700 Metres was steadied to avoid NOTTHESILLYONE (B Avdulla) which shifted in when not quite clear.
B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care.
Near the 600 Metres was then steadied away from NOTTHESILLYONE when that runner shifted out when being corrected by its rider to avoid shifting in and crowding MA COMET.
Horse No 7 SPICY SPANGLE (J087) M F Poon Near the 600 Metres was steadied away from VICTORYTHIRTYTHREE.
Near the 200 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by GORGEOUS VITALITY (L Hewitson) which shifted to the outside of VICTORYTHIRTYTHREE to obtain clear running.
L Hewitson was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 8 SUPER SIXTY (J071) C Y Ho After the race, C Y Ho reported that his mount kicked out behind as the start was effected and as a result was slow to begin.
Horse No 9 OVERSUBSCRIBED (C361) A Atzeni From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 10 PARENTS' LOVE (H405) Y L Chung After the race, Y L Chung stated that after leading PARENTS' LOVE did not finish the race off in the Home Straight and failed to run out a strong 1000 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 GORGEOUS VITALITY (G051) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.
Briefly held up approaching the 200 Metres when being shifted to the outside of VICTORYTHIRTYTHREE and bumped with SPICY SPANGLE.

Grand Nova responded nicely to just get up in deep stretch after settling on the rail in midfield for a maiden win at his fourth start. He was able to build on an eye-catching second last start over the straight 1,000m. Favourite Ma Comet ran on well to just miss after a prominent run on the fence. He is a winner waiting to happen with seconds in three consecutive runs. Colourful Prince stuck on well to just miss after assuming the lead 200m out following a pace-stalking run from gate 10. It was a return to form following a downgrade. Gorgeous Vitality ran on late with two wider out to fill the frame without threatening the top three after a patient ride three from the rear. He is well rated. Modest Gentlemen ran on steadily near the inside to just edge Super Sixty for fifth after making his run two from the rear. He just isn't good enough at this level. Super Sixty ran on without threatening after settling behind midfield on the fence. He has shown some progress in two of his past four starts but is still a work in progress. Parents' Love was stopping 50m out after rolling to the lead 850m out.
