Recap by phillip woo
Chiu Chow Spirit took the short route home from last to just blouse Tomodachi Kokoroe on the wire for a second win from seven starts this term. He had been racing well and took advantage of the lighter weight in a higher grade. Tomodachi Kokoroe nearly stole the race after leading from gate six. It was a solid run with a step up to 1,400m after winning four times over 1,200m at the Valley. Equal favourite Superb Boy ran on steadily to finish a distant third after a one-off trip from midfield. It was another honest effort. Supreme Lucky made good ground late to nearly fill a placing after biding his time one from the rear. It was another genuine effort but he's likely better on a track with give. Atullibigeal made some ground late to finish next best after turning the final bend three from the rear. The pace and big weight worked against him.
