Between the 400 Metres and the 350 Metres was held up when being shifted to the outside to obtain clear running.
Horse No 5 MUGEN (H338) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 PACKING TREADMILL (G161) L Hewitson For a short distance after the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a narrow run between CALIFORNIA SPANGLE and HEALTHY HAPPY.

Mugen got the gaps when required to come from last to get the better of long-time leader California Spangle 50m out in the seven-runner field for a fourth win and second over 1,400m from nine starts this term. He is a smart type and took full advantage of the 20-pound swing in the weights. Favourite California Spangle did everything but get the win after racing straight to the front from gate six. The big weight took its toll. Plunged late, Flying Ace ran on nicely to fill a placing after switching into the open 300m out after being ridden one from the rear following a tardy start. It was another genuine effort despite a step up in distance. Punted late, Packing Treadmill whacked on one-paced after a prominent run on the fence. He rarely produces a bad run. Taj Dragon came up flat inside the last 100m after a one-off trip from midfield. He has had a lot of racing. Telcom Fighters was not good enough after chasing the speed.
