Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite Tactical Command wore down long-time leader Colonel in the dying stages after a prominent run on the fence for a second win from 16 starts this term. He deserved that after filling the frame in his past three starts. Colonel wouldn't go down without a fight after spearing to the lead from gate three. He makes his own luck in front and is always a chance at this level. Ho Ho Star ran on nicely to fill a placing without threatening the top two after a rail run from behind midfield following a tardy start. It was his best effort wearing a hood for the first time at his 13th start. Cheer For South gradually faded after a pace-stalking run from gate eight. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Circuit Splendor whacked on one-paced after chasing the speed three wide without cover the entire trip. It was a pleasing effort despite the tough run in transit.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 TIMESTORM (G109) H Bowman After the race, H Bowman stated that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages and settled towards the back of the field.

He said with the pace of the event being run outside of standard throughout the early and middle stages, TIMESTORM found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight.
