Karma let down nicely down the centre of the track to overhaul long-time leader Oriental Smoke after a patient ride second last from gate 13 for a third win and two on the bounce over 1,600m from 10 starts this term. Oriental Smoke grudgingly gave way after turning the final bend two lengths on top leading from gate 11. He has produced mixed results in his past seven starts. Punted late Simple Hedge came from a distant last along the inside to fill a placing. He liked the wet track. Pray For Mir stayed on well for fourth after chasing the speed along the inside. It was a pleasing effort on his local debut. Ching ran on late for fifth without threatening the top four after a rail run from behind midfield. He hasn't disgraced but is struggling to recapture top form this season. Young Achiever came up one-paced over the last 150m after improving to third 250m out from towards the rear. He's still acclimatising. Beauty Live ran on without threatening after a wide trip from behind midfield. He had an excuse. Favourite Aeroinvincible was retreating 200m out when failing to lift under pressure 400m out after a handy run.

Race Eleven : (761) - KAT O HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters

Horse No 2 KEMPES (J265) H Bowman Bumped on jumping.

For some distance approaching the 500 Metres was held up for clear running behind WAH MAY WAI WAI which was commencing to give ground.

Horse No 3 CHING (G380) L Hewitson Bumped on jumping.

Horse No 4 KARMA (G392) C Y Ho From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 YOUNG ACHIEVER (J291) Z Purton Jumped awkwardly and then was checked shortly after the start when crowded between PRAY FOR MIR which was taken out by POWERFUL WINGS and BEAUTY LIVE (Y L Chung) which shifted in.

Y L Chung was reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.

Approaching the 100 Metres was eased when PRAY FOR MIR was taken out towards that runner.

Horse No 6 SIMPLE HEDGE (H237) B Avdulla Slow to begin.

Approaching the 100 Metres shifted out and made contact with PRAY FOR MIR.

Horse No 8 ORIENTAL SMOKE (E467) B Thompson Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 PRAY FOR MIR (J245) M Chadwick Crowded shortly after the start.

Approaching the 100 Metres SIMPLE HEDGE was shifted to the outside of ORIENTAL SMOKE to obtain clear running and as a result made contact with PRAY FOR MIR.

Horse No 10 WAH MAY WAI WAI (J193) M F Poon Bumped on jumping.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

After the race, M F Poon reported that from a wide barrier he was instructed to take up a forward position.

Trainer A S Cruz confirmed the instructions issued.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of WAH MAY WAI WAI, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, WAH MAY WAI WAI will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 11 AEROINVINCIBLE (J180) A Atzeni Near the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from PRAY FOR MIR.

After the race, A Atzeni reported that his mount raced keenly throughout the event, did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight and, in his opinion, was not comfortable on the Soft track conditions.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of AEROINVINCIBLE was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, AEROINVINCIBLE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 12 POWERFUL WINGS (G225) A Hamelin After the race, A Hamelin reported that his mount hung in throughout the event and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Noted to have lost its left hind plate after the race.

Horse No 13 SILVER UP (J078) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After the race, K Teetan reported that his mount was not comfortable on the Soft track conditions.

When horses were parading for the running of Race 7, significant lightning activity commenced in the area.

As a result, the start of Race 7 was delayed until 7:40 pm.

The starting times for the remainder of the event were amended as follows: Race 8: 8:10 pm Race 9: 8:40 pm Race 10: 9:15 pm Race 11: 9:50 pm

After the running of Race 3, the track classification for the turf course was officially changed from Yielding to Soft This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 3 being run on a track rated Soft

12 June 2024 Happy Valley Racemeeting - Race 1 (742) MASTER OF LUCK - The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse had sustained a left front tendon injury after racing.

Before being allowed to race again, MASTER OF LUCK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
