Racing Incident Report
Race One : (751) - YAN CHAU TONG PLATE - Class GRIFFIN - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 CALIFORNIA BANNER (J132) Y L Chung Shortly after the start bumped heavily with PATCH OF COSMO, became unbalanced and shifted in and bumped SMART ZIPANG.
Near the 150 Metres Y L Chung dropped his left rein for a short distance.
Horse No 2 CALIFORNIA MOXIE (J131) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 5 SMART ZIPANG (J165) B Thompson Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters.
Horse No 6 ANGELIC (J336) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.
After the race, A Atzeni reported that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight ANGELIC failed to respond and did not appreciate the Yielding track conditions.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 KA YING RESILIENCE (J439) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 KARATE EXPRESS (J306) L Hewitson For some distance near the 500 Metres was held up for clear running.
After being shifted to the inside of SANTORINI near the 400 Metres then raced tight between SANTORINI and KA YING RESILIENCE which shifted out.
As a result, KARATE EXPRESS did not obtain clear running until near the 200 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 NEW ASIA GREAT (J412) K De Melo Was fractious in the barriers, then jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
The barrier manners were considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, NEW ASIA GREAT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
Horse No 10 PATCH OF COSMO (J357) L Ferraris Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 11 RUN YES RUN (J264) E C W Wong After the race, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his mount failed to travel strongly at any stage of the event and, in his opinion, did not appreciate the Yielding track conditions.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 SMILING EMPEROR (J371) H Bentley Near the 250 Metres was held up for clear running behind ANGELIC as that runner commenced to give ground and was shifted to the outside approaching the 200 Metres to continue into clear running.
Horse No 14 SUPREME WINNER (J255) K C Leung Slow to begin.

Karate Express responded nicely under pressure to take control 80m out after a handy run in the centre of the course for a debut win. Favourite Ka Ying Resilience found one too good after moving to the lead 300m out following a prominent run near the far side from a low draw. It was a nice debut performance. Santorini grudgingly gave way after leading narrowly from a low draw. It's only a matter of time before he salutes after placing in each of his four Griffin runs. Patch Of Cosmo stayed on well after chasing the speed from gate nine with late-market action. He has given a decent sight in both Griffin starts. California Moxie made headway late to finish next best after biding his time among the backmarkers. He has shown flashes of ability in his four starts. Punted late Run Yes Run was on his tippy toes 100m out after pressing the pace on the stand side from gate 14. He is likely to be better suited on a fast track.
