Recap by phillip woo

After travelling keenly early on, favourite Galaxy Patch weaved a run near the inside from better than midfield to just touch off Chancheng Glory for a fifth win from 11 starts. He has a bright future. Chancheng Glory was just collared late after tending to lay in under pressure after dictating the pace from gate four. It was another fine effort in a higher grade over his favourite 1,600m. Beauty Joy came from last carrying top weight to just edge Taj Dragon for third but was no match for the top pair. It was another honest performance. Taj Dragon grudgingly gave way after a pace-stalking run. He's more effective over 1,400m. Atullibigeal found a few too smart after a box-seat run. After being punted late, The Golden Scenery failed to make an impression after travelling second last in the seven-horse field. He's not good enough at this level. Encountered had an excuse after getting posted wide without cover chasing the speed the entire trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight : (719) - THE LION ROCK TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 1600Meters

Horse No 1 BEAUTY JOY (E058) B Avdulla From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 2 ENCOUNTERED (G236) K Teetan Shortly after the start was crowded between CHANCHENG GLORY and THE GOLDEN SCENERY which raced tight to the inside of TAJ DRAGON.

Raced wide and without cover from the 1100 Metres.

The performance of ENCOUNTERED was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, ENCOUNTERED will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 TAJ DRAGON (H164) A Atzeni In the early stages raced keenly when positioned outside the lead.

Horse No 4 GALAXY PATCH (H399) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.

Approaching the 100 Metres was hampered and taken in by CHANCHENG GLORY which shifted in.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 THE GOLDEN SCENERY (E379) Y L Chung In the early stages raced tight.

Horse No 8 CHANCHENG GLORY (H212) L Hewitson Shortly after the start was bumped.

When questioned regarding his riding out, L Hewitson stated that in the early part of the Home Straight his mount lay out and as a result he was obliged to correct it near the 200 Metres.

He said between the 200 Metres and the 100 Metres CHANCHENG GLORY then shifted in slightly and as a result he was again obliged to stop riding and correct his mount near the 100 Metres.

He added that over the concluding stages when riding his mount out his left foot was dislodged from his stirrup iron and although he advised the Stewards that he was able to continue to push CHANCHENG GLORY out to the finish of the event, he was being somewhat hampered by his foot being dislodged.

L Hewitson was advised, wherever possible, he must ensure that his foot is securely positioned within his stirrup iron to prevent a similar occurrence again.

Subsequently Jockey Hewitson's stirrup irons were inspected by the Stewards and found to be in good order and nothing was identified that would have caused his foot to be dislodged from the stirrup iron.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 SUPER SUNNY SING (G319) K De Melo Withdrawn on 30.5.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right front ligament injury).

Before being allowed to race again, SUPER SUNNY SING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
