Recap by phillip woo
Keefy overhauled long-time leader Superb Boy 30m out after a pace-stalking run carrying the lightest weight to ring up a third win and his first from nine starts this season. It was clearly his best performance this term but he was a well-rated runner. Superb Boy wouldn't go down without a fight after jumping straight to the lead from gate four. It was a return to form after losing his way in two prior starts. Favourite Wonder Kit got going late to finish a close third after a prominent run. It was another honest performance. Supreme Lucky stayed on all right for fourth but did have every chance after a box-seat run. Spirited Express only beat one runner from the rear in the small field of six. He has been out of form and requires a stronger pace. Mr Ascendency never landed a blow after travelling second last carrying top weight. He has come up empty in his past two starts after back-to-back wins in April.
