Race Eight : (711) - FUNG WO HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 BERLIN TANGO (E120) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 WOODFIRE BRO (G115) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 APACHE PASS (D433) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 MASSIVE ACTION (E445) H T Mo After the race, H T Mo advised that he was obliged to make too much use of his mount in the early stages to lead and then was disadvantaged by MASSIVE ACTION being taken on in the lead throughout the early and middle stages.
He added as a result MASSIVE ACTION was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.
Horse No 6 SUPER WINNER (C341) Y L Chung Badly held up for clear running between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres.
Horse No 7 EXCELLENT FIGHTER (G343) M Chadwick Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 9 AESTHETICISM (H289) L Hewitson Held up for clear running between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres.
Horse No 10 DEVILDOM (H445) B Thompson Jumped only fairly.

Held up for some distance after the 600 Metres.

K De Melo was fined the sum of $2,000 for failing to present himself in the Parade Ring by the required time.

Early favourite Berlin Tango came with a perfectly timed run to edge Apache Pass after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield for a third career win and first this season at his 11th start this term. Apache Pass just missed after surging to the lead near the 300m following a wide with cover trip from midfield. He was able to build on an improved fourth last start. Perfect Team ran on nicely for third after making his run five back on the fence. It was a good effort resuming off lameness in February. Post-time favourite Woodfire Bro ran on steadily for fourth without threatening the top three after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He rarely produces a bad run on either surface. Amazing Duck just held his ground after a handy run one off the fence from a wide draw. He has given a decent sight in two starts over this surface and trip. Aestheticism should have finished closer after getting badly held up for a run along the inside until the 150m following a patient ride three from the rear. Suruga Bay came from last to finish next best. It was a better run following a switch in surface and a change in stables.
