Hayday was perfectly rated in front from gate eight for a first win at his ninth start to give trainer Ricky You Poon-fai a milestone 1,000th career success. He had been knocking on the door with thirds in three prior starts. Steps Ahead ran on very well for second after biding his time towards the rear. It was an eye-catching debut performance. Early favourite Lo Pan Spirit kept on reasonably well after chasing the leading pair one off the fence. It was another good run carrying more weight following a debut win. Post-time favourite Prince Of Porty got going late for fourth without threatening the top three settling four from the rear. He couldn't offset the big weight. Strathpeffer was doing his best work late to finish next best after making his run one from the rear. He continues to race well without winning over the Sha Tin 1,200m. Lucky Symphony had no excuse after a handy run on the fence trying the Sha Tin 1,200m for the first time. He is still a work in progress. Sky Prophet ran on without threatening after getting held up and then hampered 250m out travelling second last from a wide draw.

Race Six : (661) - JORDAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 PRINCE OF PORTY (H009) Z Purton Jumped only fairly and then raced tight to the inside of STRATHPEFFER for a short distance later.

After the 900 Metres was steadied away from CIRCUIT TEN.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 SUPERSONIC (J192) B Thompson Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 3 LO PAN SPIRIT (J233) H Bentley Raced keenly for some distance after the 1000 Metres when positioned tight to the inside of SUPERSONIC.

Horse No 4 CIRCUIT MAXIMUS (J347) L Hewitson Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.

Near the 300 Metres raced tight to the inside of PRINCE OF PORTY and then shifted in and away from that runner.

Horse No 6 SKY PROPHET (J095) C Y Ho From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After the 900 Metres was steadied away from PRINCE OF PORTY.

After the 400 Metres was held up for clear running and near the 300 Metres was steadied as it improved into a tight run between SUPERSONIC which was giving ground and HERO WARRIOR which raced tight to the inside of CIRCUIT MAXIMUS which shifted in and away from PRINCE OF PORTY.

Horse No 7 STEPS AHEAD (J263) H Bowman Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 CIRCUIT TEN (G429) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.

On arrival at the Start, it was noted to have blood in its mouth.

CIRCUIT TEN was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Near the 900 Metres was steadied when crowded for room between HERO WARRIOR and LUCKY SYMPHONY which made the turn awkwardly and shifted out.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

Horse No 9 GALE SAGA (J152) E C W Wong After the race, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that he was instructed to position his mount where comfortable.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he elected to shift his mount across behind runners to avoid racing wide.

Horse No 10 HERO WARRIOR (J006) H T Mo After the 1100 Metres raced tight to the inside of LO PAN SPIRIT which shifted in and away from SUPERSONIC.

Horse No 11 HAYDAY (H321) M F Poon Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 STRATHPEFFER (H095) M Chadwick After the race, M Chadwick reported that his intention was to hold a more forward position, but despite riding his mount along in the early stages did not show sufficient pace to do so.
