Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (643) - THE QUEEN MOTHER MEMORIAL CUP (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 2400Meters
Horse No 1 RUSSIAN EMPEROR (E198) H Bowman From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the race, H Bowman stated that after being ridden into the event from the 650 Metres, RUSSIAN EMPEROR responded reasonably well to his riding, however, its run ended near the 200 Metres and would derive benefit from today's performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, RUSSIAN EMPEROR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 3 SENOR TOBA (G103) C Y Ho The performance of SENOR TOBA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SENOR TOBA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 FIVE G PATCH (G286) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 RUNNING GLORY (G010) B Thompson Jumped only fairly.
Noted to have blood in its mouth after the race.
Horse No 7 LA CITY BLANCHE (G371) M Chadwick When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer A S Cruz stated that LA CITY BLANCHE was advantaged today by being stepped up in distance, particularly in circumstances where he was advised after the last start by H Bowman that LA CITY BLANCH was looking for additional distance.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 KA YING GENERATION (J075) A Atzeni When questioned regarding his riding, A Atzeni stated that his intention was to ride his mount in a forward position in a similar way in which it was ridden when it performed well in the Hong Kong Derby on 24 March 2024.
He said in the early stages when MOMENTS IN TIME held the lead, he was aware that the pace of the event was being run inside of standard time, however, KA YING GENERATION was travelling comfortably in a position to the outside of MOMENTS IN TIME.
He added that from the 800 Metres KA YING GENERATION came under pressure and failed to finish the race off from that point.
When asked if there was an opportunity to take a trailing position behind MOMENTS IN TIME, A Atzeni stated that due to his mount carrying a light weight and it had raced well when being allowed to run freely at its last start, he felt that his best option was to remain racing outside of MOMENTS IN TIME to take advantage of the light weight.
He said however with the benefit of hindsight, he may have been better suited by obtaining cover in the middle stages behind MOMENTS IN TIME.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The Stewards found the performance of KA YING GENERATION to be disappointing as compared to its previous race start.
Before being allowed to race again, KA YING GENERATION will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 12 TURIN MASCOT (H165) K Teetan Near the 500 Metres was eased when racing tight between SENOR TOBA and LA CITY BLANCHE which shifted out to improve.
Horse No 8 CHILL CHIBI (H109) A Badel Withdrawn on 3.5.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).
Before being allowed to race again, CHILL CHIBI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

La City Blanche just out finished stablemate Five G Patch after making his run on the fence in midfield for a second win from 19 local starts. Five G Patch just found one too good after surging to the lead 150m out following a one-off trip from midfield. He has been racing well without winning. Unbelievable stayed on well for third after a prominent run. He was able to back up a second last start despite a major rise in class. Moments In Time did well to hang around for fourth after setting a slick pace in front. He held his own after back-to-back wins in lesser grades at the Valley. Natural Storm came from near the rear to finish fifth without threatening the top four. He can bob up now and then. Turin Mascot ran on steadily after a rail run from behind midfield. He ran all right despite being 20 points out of the handicap. Russian Emperor ran on without menacing after a patient ride at the back from gate 11. He couldn't offset a big weight.
