Recap by phillip woo

Odds-on favourite Ka Ying Rising drew clear to win with plenty in hand after claiming the front 350m out following a pace-stalking run for a fourth win and two seconds from as many starts this term. He is an exciting three-year-old. Packing Treadmill just held off Gorgeous Win for second after dictating the pace from gate one. He is honest as the day is long. Gorgeous Win ran on well to just miss second after a wide with cover trip from midfield. He has run well in his past two starts in this grade from three outings following a third Sha Tin 1,200m win in February. Beauty Charge ran on steadily for fourth after a rails run from midfield. It was another honest effort. Rising From Ashes came from last for fifth without threatening the top four. It was a positive performance trying the Sha Tin 1,200m for the first time. Son Pak Fu weakened after chasing the speed three wide without cover from gate 11 carrying top weight. He had a clear excuse. Apache Pass made some ground late travelling towards the rear after a tardy start.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten : (645) - BRANDY SNAP HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SON PAK FU (G265) H Bowman After the 100 Metres raced in restricted room between BEAUTY CHARGE and GORGEOUS WIN which shifted in.

After the race, H Bowman reported that it was not his intention to go forward, but after SON PAK FU commenced well, he attempted to take advantage of the good start.

He said when DUKE WAI and WE ARE HERO held their positions to his inside, SON PAK FU was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 2 BUNDLE OF CHARM (G213) A Atzeni From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 3 PACKING TREADMILL (G161) L Hewitson Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 DUKE WAI (C188) C Y Ho After the 100 Metres was awkwardly placed on the heels of SON PAK FU and shifted to that runner's outside, but then raced in restricted room between SON PAK FU and APACHE PASS and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish of the event.

Horse No 6 SEASONS WIT (H223) Y L Chung Jumped awkwardly and then raced tight shortly after the start.

Approaching the 700 Metres got its head up when racing keenly and being steadied away from BEAUTY CHARGE.

Horse No 8 KA YING RISING (J062) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 APACHE PASS (D433) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 9 REWARD SMILE (H256) K Teetan Withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind).

Before being allowed to race again, REWARD SMILE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
