Yellowfin led easily from gate four and never looked back after turning the final bend two lengths on top for a third win this term. He was gifted an easy time in front. Punted late, Romantic Laos was closing with every stride to finish second after a prominent run on the fence. He made full use of gate one. Galaxy Witness ran on nicely late near the outside after biding his time two from the rear. It was another honest performance. Ivy League ran on well for fourth after a wide trip towards the rear. It was a good run. Charity Bingo ran on steadily to finish next best after settling one off the rail in just worse than midfield. He hasn't been beaten far three times in this grade following a win in Class Four. Glorious Journey produced a grinding effort from midfield on the fence. It was an OK effort on return to Class Three following a lesser grade win. Winning Dragon didn't offer much when push came to shove after stalking the pace. Favourite Simply Maverick was eased down over the final 200m after finding nothing following a one-out, one-back run. It was an out-of-character performance.

Approaching the 400 Metres was held up for clear running.

Horse No 3 YELLOWFIN (G326) L Hewitson Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 SIMPLY MAVERICK (H346) Z Purton When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Z Purton stated that his mount obtained a favourable on-pace position, but when placed under pressure did not handle the "Good to Yielding" track conditions.

He added that in the Home Straight when he was concerned there may have been something amiss with his mount, he eased it down from the event over the final 200 Metres when not in a competitive position.

Trainer P F Yiu advised that SIMPLY MAVERICK had pleased the stable leading into tonight's event and had raced consistently in this grade.

He added he could offer no explanation for tonight's performance.

The performance of SIMPLY MAVERICK was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, SIMPLY MAVERICK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 IVY LEAGUE (H116) K De Melo Hampered on jumping when crowded by FALLON which shifted out and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 RED MAJESTY (E028) K Teetan After the race, K Teetan reported that after his mount was slow to begin, he settled further back than intended and then found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight.
