Racing Incident Report
Race Six : (613) - INCHEON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 GOOD LUCK WIN (J135) A Hamelin L Hewitson (RELIABLE PROFIT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1500 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of VIVA HUNTER, resulting in VIVA HUNTER being taken in across the running of GOOD LUCK WIN which was checked.
L Hewitson was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 8 May 2024 at Happy Valley.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent careless riding record.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 SNOWALOT (E397) Z Purton After the race, Z Purton stated that, in his opinion, his mount would be better suited on a firmer surface.
Horse No 3 VIVA HUNTER (E369) M F Poon Brushed near the 250 Metres.
Horse No 4 PEGASUS GENERAL (G189) Y L Chung Shifted out at the start, made contact with I CAN and became unbalanced.
After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that, in his opinion, his mount would be better suited on a firmer surface.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 FORTUNE COOKIES (J032) K De Melo Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Horse No 6 I CAN (H381) A Atzeni Crowded at the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 GAMEPLAYER WARRIOR (J178) L Ferraris Shortly after the start was steadied when racing tight to the inside of VIVA HUNTER which shifted in and away from RELIABLE PROFIT after making contact with that runner.
Horse No 10 CAN'T GO WONG (H087) A Badel Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and then raced tight for a short distance thereafter.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 KINGLY DEMEANOR (H486) B Thompson Shifted in on jumping, made contact with SNOWALOT and became unbalanced.
Was then crowded shortly after the start between SNOWALOT and STORM WINNER which shifted in slightly.
Horse No 12 RELIABLE PROFIT (G462) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.
Near the 250 Metres lay in and brushed VIVA HUNTER.
After the race, L Hewitson reported that from the outside barrier he was instructed to take up a forward position.
L Hewitson pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 1500 Metres (see GOOD LUCK WIN).

I Can took control 60m out following a box-seat run for a first win at his ninth local start. He lived up to a market quote of $7.8 after failing to figure in three prior starts at longer than $20. After a rails run better than midfield, favourite Can't Go Wong found one just too good after briefly hitting the front 100m out. He's in good form and just ran into a better horse on the night. The well-backed Viva Hunter grudgingly gave way after easily finding the lead from gate 11. He does appear from his past two runs to be back on track. Snowalot ran on steadily for fourth without threatening the top three after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He couldn't offset the rise in weight following a win. Reliable Profit knocked up late after working to the lead 300m out following a speed-tracking run from gate 12. It wasn't a bad effort following a suspensory injury in January. Pegasus General just plodded after a rails run in midfield. He's not genuine. Storm Winner made some ground without menacing after travelling two from the rear. It was a better effort third up trying the Valley. Young Victory only plodded after a one-off trip in midfield.
