Racing Incident Report
Race Nine : (597) - MAGAZINE GAP HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 SILVER SONIC (H171) C Y Ho Bumped at the start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 QUANTUM PATCH (H166) H Bowman Bumped at the start.
Horse No 3 SAMARKAND (H070) C L Chau After the race, C L Chau reported that his instructions were to go forward and endeavour to lead.
He stated that when SAMARKAND did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to lead the event, he elected to take a position with cover behind ZOOM BOOM.
Horse No 4 RED HARE KING (H188) M Chadwick Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 SHOW RESPECT (H138) B Avdulla Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Near the 550 Metres went amiss and was retired from the event.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SHOW RESPECT had sustained an injury to the left front leg.
Samples were taken from the horse.
Horse No 6 GIDDY UP (J020) Z Purton From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 550 Metres was shifted to the outside of SHOW RESPECT when that runner was retired from the event.
Horse No 7 AFFORDABLE (J242) B Thompson Bumped at the start.
Horse No 8 ROMANTIC LAOS (G476) K C Leung K C Leung was fined the sum of $5,000 for using the whip excessively on a horse that was not responding and was out of contention.
Horse No 9 LUCKY EIGHT (G204) K Teetan Bumped at the start.
Horse No 10 CAPITAL LEGEND (G333) K De Melo Shortly after the start was bumped by SHOW RESPECT which shifted out.
Horse No 11 ZOOM BOOM (G131) H Bentley Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Sent for sampling post-race.

Zoom Boom defied a wide trip without cover to take control 150m out for a second win this term. He backed up a runer-up effort last month. Favourite Red Hare King stayed on second best after a prominent run. He continues to hold his condition well. Punted late, Giddy Up ran on nicely near the outside to finish level for third after a patient ride travelling in second last from gate 11. It was a solid effort trying the Valley 1,650m for the first time. Capital Legend grudgingly gave way after dictating the run from gate six to share third prize money. It was a good performance in a higher grade following a win last Wednesday. Charity Bingo ran on steadily but just missed the frame from better than midfield on the fence. It was a better effort at his second run back in Class Three following a win. Samarkand made late headway to finish next best after he was ridden for luck in fourth last from gate 12. He couldn't offset the wide draw. Quantum Patch ran on without threatening near the inside after making his run five back on the fence. He has been mixing his form in seven starts following a win.
