Race Three : (591) - MOUNT BUTLER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 PHOENIX LIGHT (G192) E C W Wong Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 ROMANTIC NOVELIST (J167) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by EXUBERANT which shifted out.
Horse No 4 EXUBERANT (E282) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 SUPERB WITNESS (H467) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Throughout the early and middle stages raced keenly and for some distance after the 800 Metres got its head up when positioned behind CHEONG FAT.
Horse No 6 GLORY CLOUD (H320) H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 7 TEAM HAPPY (J218) B Avdulla Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to DAN ATTACK which shifted out.
Horse No 8 BRAVO WARRIOR (J088) B Thompson Jumped awkwardly and then bumped with PARENTS' LOVE.
Horse No 9 PARENTS' LOVE (H405) Y L Chung Bumped at the start.
After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that his instructions were to go forward and lead.
He added with his mount stepping up in distance tonight PARENTS' LOVE raced too keenly and although he was aware that his mount was setting a fast pace, he was unable to restrain it to set a more sustainable pace throughout the early stages.
He said as a result PARENTS' LOVE weakened in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of PARENTS' LOVE was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race start.
Before being allowed to race again, PARENTS' LOVE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After settling one off the rail behind midfield, Exuberant surged to the lead 100m out and just scrambled in from the fast-finishing Phoenix Light for a second win this season. He was able to back up a third on his last start following a nice break. Pheonix Light came with a nice bid to make it close on the wire after a patient ride three from the rear. He is holding his condition well following a last-start win at Sha Tin. Glory Cloud came from last and widest out to snatch third. A win is around the corner for him after hitting the line well twice over the Valley 1,200m from four starts. Dan Attack lost third late after advancing to the lead just under the 200m marker following a prominent run near the inside. It was another honest effort. Cheong Fat got going late to finish next best after making his run five back along the inside. He will be one to keep safe soon in Class Five. Diamond Soars weakened over the last 100m after handing up the lead to Parents' Love 1,050m out. He's a 1,000m horse. Firming favourite Parents' Love went too hard in front and had nothing left in the tank 150m out.
