Race Five : (573) - THE LUSITANO CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 GLORIOUS JOURNEY (J137) M Chadwick Near the 300 Metres GALLANT CROWN shifted out and away from WOOD ON FIRE and made contact with SURE JOYFUL, resulting in SURE JOYFUL shifting out and GLORIOUS JOURNEY being steadied and shifted out to avoid SURE JOYFUL.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 GOOD LUCK WIN (J135) L Ferraris Raced tight for some distance shortly after the start and made contact with MR ALADDIN.
After the race, L Ferraris reported that with his mount stepping up in distance he was instructed to hold a forward position.
He added his mount lay out throughout the event once it obtained the lead.
Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 3 WINDICATOR FAMILY (H419) A Badel After the race, A Badel reported that whilst he had expected to hold a more forward position than its previous starts from the inside barrier, WINDICATOR FAMILY jumped well and obtained a more forward position than what he had anticipated.
Horse No 4 NOT A FEW (J109) K De Melo From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 200 Metres became held up for clear running between DEVAS TWELVE and GOOD LUCK WIN and did not obtain clear running until near the 100 Metres.
Horse No 5 DEVAS TWELVE (H435) Z Purton After the race, Z Purton stated that his mount raced "flat" tonight, similarly to the manner in which it had raced at its most recent start on 16 March 2024.
Trainer W Y So agreed with Jockey Purton and stated that he would now provide DEVAS TWELVE with a let-up at his Conghua stables.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 GALLANT CROWN (D359) K C Leung Shifted out and away from WOOD ON FIRE near the 300 Metres.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 8 STURDY RUBY (H207) H Bowman Held up for clear running from the 450 Metres until the 250 Metres.
Horse No 9 SURE JOYFUL (G125) M F Poon From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 300 Metres was bumped and became unbalanced.

Horse No 10 MR ALADDIN (H386) H Bentley Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 11 ATOMIC BEAUTY (H066) B Avdulla Near the 1500 Metres was momentarily crowded by DEVAS TWELVE which raced tight to the inside of GOOD LUCK WIN.
Lay out between the 250 Metres and the 100 Metres, resulting in its rider B Avdulla changing his whip through to his left hand.
Horse No 12 KEEN UNITY (G298) M L Yeung Near the 650 Metres commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from STURDY RUBY.

Class dropper Glorious Journey came from last and widest out to overhaul Sure Joyful 60m out for a first local win at his fourth start. It was a good winning effort carrying top weight but he will need to lift on his past three runs in Class Three. Sure Joyful found one too good after working to the lead 150m following a patient ride in fourth last. He continues to race well over the Valley 1,650m. Atomic Beauty ran on steadily near the inside for third without threatening the top two after settling on the rail in midfield. It was another honest performance. Mr Aladdin got going late for fourth after making his run one off the rail from behind midfield. He's racing reasonably well without winning. Windicator Family plugged on at pace after settling in the box seat. He's shown shades of progress in two runs following a downgrade. Sturdy Ruby ran on but just missed fifth after travelling on the rail behind midfield. He's nothing special. Keen Unity ran on without threatening from towards the rear. Favourite Devas Twelve just plodded after travelling one off the rail in midfielf. The switch in courses backfired.
