Race Four : (562) - LUGARD HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 2 SUPER GOLDI (H477) K C Leung From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Over the final 100 Metres lay out under pressure whilst being ridden along.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 ARIEL (G223) A Atzeni Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 4 AFFIRM (H306) L Hewitson Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 MISSION VOICE (H444) L Ferraris From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 8 SMILING COLLECTOR (G128) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 SUPER BONUS (H259) H Bentley After the race, H Bentley reported that from a wide barrier he was obliged to make some use of his mount to take up a forward position which resulted in SUPER BONUS being left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 CALIFORNIA ICON (H404) Y L Chung After travelling a short distance was inconvenienced when crowded between BIG RED and SMILING COLLECTOR.
In the early part of the Home Straight lay out under pressure.
Horse No 11 CHATEAU (H214) A Hamelin Jumped only fairly.
Leaving the 400 Metres went amiss and was retired from the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained an injury to the right front leg.
Samples were taken from the horse.
Horse No 12 DUBLIN STAR (C436) M Chadwick Shortly after the start was bumped and became unbalanced.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 13 LADY BILLIE (H365) M F Poon Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 14 V LOVE YOU (J048) B Thompson Leaving the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid THE KHAN.
Horse No ALWAYS FLUKE (H252) H Bowman Withdrawn on 5.4.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter AFFIRM.
Before being allowed to race again, ALWAYS FLUKE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Super Goldi showed a good turn of foot to just get the better of Smiling Collector after a patient ride in second last from gate 14. It was his second win from five starts. He had been racing well in defeat from awkward gates in three prior starts. Smiling Collector made it close on the wire after settling one off the rail better than midfield. He had been racing much better of late. Circuit Fiery ran on nicely to finish a close third after settling one off the rail behind midfield. He relished the rise in trip after a pleasing debut effort over the 1,200m. Favourite Affirm grudgingly gave way after dictating the run from gate five. He should get away with a race shortly. Ariel finished next best after getting posted wide from gate 13. He is honest but has trouble winning. The Khan ran on steadily after settling on the rail in midfield. He is still a work in progress. Mission Voice ran on without threatening after settling third last from gate 10. It was another positive run after a similar sort of debut effort over the 1,200m.
