Racing Incident Report
Race One : (551) - KAP SHUI MUN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters
Horse No 1 LEGION OF MERIT (D419) B Thompson For some distance after the 400 Metres raced tight to the inside of PRECISION GOAL as that runner commenced to give ground and was also positioned tight to the inside of ANGELS HUNTER which lay in despite the efforts of its rider.
Horse No 2 NINJA DERBY (H339) Y L Chung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 400 Metres shifted out to improve and was bumped.
Horse No 3 M M NEBULA (G279) Z Purton Approaching the 700 Metres was bumped by SUPERB MOVE and became unbalanced.
As a result, M M NEBULA raced wide and without cover thereafter.
After the race, Z Purton stated that his mount, in his opinion, did not run out a strong 1800 Metres.
Trainer P C Ng stated that with the early stages of the event being run inside of standard time, M M NEBULA was not provided with the opportunity to travel comfortably.
He stated that, in his opinion, M M NEBULA was also disadvantaged when being bumped by SUPERB MOVE approaching the 700 Metres and as a result was unable to finish the race off.
He added however he would now drop M M NEBULA back in distance for its next race start on the All Weather surface.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 NICE BIRDIE (G470) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 5 HAPPY HERO (G322) L Hewitson Approaching the 1500 Metres was steadied to avoid SUPERB MOVE (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted in when not clear.
Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care.
Approaching the 700 Metres was steadied away from M M NEBULA.
Horse No 6 SUPERB MOVE (G304) E C W Wong When questioned, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that in the middle stages when the pace of the event eased slightly, SUPERB MOVE commenced to race keenly.
He said approaching the 800 Metres SUPERB MOVE became awkwardly placed behind SUPER HORNET and when he was unable to sufficiently restrain his mount to avoid that runner's heels, it shifted to the outside of SUPER HORNET and as a result made contact with M M NEBULA, resulting in SUPERB MOVE becoming unbalanced.
He added that on the Home Turn he was then held up for clear running behind ANGELS HUNTER and did not obtain clear running until after the 300 Metres when he improved between M M NEBULA and JOYFUL CHAMPION.
Horse No 7 LEATHER MASTER (H034) L Ferraris From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 400 Metres was bumped by NINJA DERBY which shifted out to improve and as a result was taken wider.
Horse No 8 PRECISION GOAL (H016) B Avdulla After the race, B Avdulla stated that from a wide barrier he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to go forward to avoid racing wide.
He said as a result PRECISION GOAL was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 ANGELS HUNTER (G193) K De Melo After the race, K De Melo expressed concern with his mount's action in the Home Straight.
The Veterinary Officer reported that ANGELS HUNTER was found to be distressed.
Before being allowed to race again, ANGELS HUNTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 10 BROTHER PEARL (H030) A Badel From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
From the 450 Metres until the 300 Metres was held up for clear running.
Horse No 12 JOYFUL CHAMPION (G072) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 13 SUPER HORNET (G043) M Chadwick A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Joyful Champion responded nicely to take control near the 200m after settling on the rail behind midfield for a first win at his 24th start. Nice Birdie closed off well for second after a patient ride in fourth last to grab second. He's capable at this level and appreciated a riding change to a senior jockey. Superb Move kept on gamely to win the battle for third after a prominent run on the fence. It was a good effort at his first go on the surface with the claim well utilised. Green Laser finished well with two wider out but just missed a placing. He's gone OK in three of his five starts after a 2,200m win in December. Brother Pearl made late headway through the middle but just missed the frame after making his run in second last from gate 13. It was another typical performance despite a change in surfaces. Favourite M M Nebula peaked on his run near the 100m after surging to the lead 400m out after settling one off the rail and better than midfield. It was a disappointing effort. Punted late, Precision Goal was struggling upon straightening after working hard to lead 1,200m out from gate 11.
