Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (545) - THE CUHK ALUMNI CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 BEAUTY GLORY (E459) B Avdulla In the Home Straight lay out and proved difficult to ride.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 DARING PURSUIT (G424) E C W Wong Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 3 GOLDEN RISE (H242) Z Purton Near the 200 Metres was eased when crowded between SMART FIGHTER and DARING PURSUIT which lay in.
After the race, Z Purton reported that his mount raced too keenly throughout the middle stages and got its head up when being steadied away from SMART FIGHTER.
He added that as a result GOLDEN RISE did not finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 FLYING MOJITO (G412) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 SETANTA (G095) M Chadwick Noted to have sustained a wound to the left front leg after the race.
Horse No 6 FORERUNNER (G465) A Hamelin From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 600 Metres was bumped by FLYING MOJITO which shifted out, resulting in FORERUNNER then being obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.
Horse No 8 TEAM HAPPY (J218) K Teetan After the race, K Teetan reported that from the outside barrier and with his mount stepping up in distance, he was instructed to obtain a more forward position on TEAM HAPPY today.
Horse No 11 LUCKY GOLD (G112) C L Chau C L Chau was fined $2,000 for initially presenting himself to be weighed out with the incorrect saddle cloth number.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 BRAVE WITNESS (H425) K De Melo Jumped awkwardly.
After the race, K De Melo reported that his mount made a respiratory noise on pulling up.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, BRAVE WITNESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 13 CHEONG FAT (H058) L Hewitson Became fractious in the Parade Ring and made contact with a parade ring partition.
Examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.
Crowded shortly after the start by SMART FIGHTER which shifted in and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 14 FORTUNE PRESIDENT (G054) Y L Chung Slow to begin.

Lucky Gold quickened nicely to win going away near the 200m after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was his third career win over the trip. Flying Mojito ran on nicely to grab second 50m out after a patient ride travelling three from the rear. He proved a closing fourth two runs ago over 1,600m was not a fluke. Forerunner produced a cheeky run for third at massive odds after a wide trip towards the rear from gate 10. He had produced two positive runs. Smart Fighter found a few too good after poking his head in front 250m out following a prominent run from gate 12. It was another honest effort. Daring Pursuit stayed on well to hold fifth after getting posted wide without cover from midfield. It was a good run. Setanta ran on without threatening after biding his time four from the rear. He's shown shades of progress in his past two starts for his new trainer. Cheong Fat was making headway late down the outside from near last. Favourite Golden Rise was only plodding when impeded near the 200m from midfield.
