Recap by phillip woo

Snowalot got the gap near the inside to just get the better of favourite Capital Legend after a patient ride from gate 11. It was his fourth win from 30 starts. Capital Legend found one too good after biding his time five back and one off the fence. He's improved from one run to the next following a downgrade and may get back to winning ways if he remains in the class. Turin Warrior ran on strongly to snatch third over Harry's Hero after settling in the rear from gate 12. He rarely produces a bad run over this course and distance but has trouble winning. Harry's Hero ran on well but just missed a placing after travelling three from the rear. It was his best performance. Punted late, Dragon Star lost a placing in the closing stages after a tussle for the lead outside Kilindini. It was another game effort in defeat. Packing Wisher weakened to finish next best after chasing the leading pair from a middle draw. It was a better run. Comet Splendido had his chance after settling one off the fence in midfield but only plodded when push came to shove. He's not the same horse this term.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (536) - TO KWA WAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 AMAZING TEENS (E449) A Badel After the race, A Badel stated that his instructions were to endeavour to hold a forward position but his mount failed to show sufficient pace to do so in the early stages.

He said as a result AMAZING TEENS was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

He further stated that his mount raced "flat" throughout the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of AMAZING TEENS, a last start winner, was considered to be disappointing as compared to its last start.

Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING TEENS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 2 COMET SPLENDIDO (G071) B Thompson Bumped on jumping.

Horse No 3 CAPITAL LEGEND (G333) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 DRAGON STAR (H128) E C W Wong When questioned regarding his riding in the early and middle stages, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his instructions were to take up a forward position and if the pace was not too fast, he had the option to lead.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he elected to push forward and take up a position outside KILINDINI near the 1200 Metres.

He added after the 1000 Metres when L Ferraris, the rider of KILINDINI, steadied his mount, he maintained an even pace to the outside of that runner, but was reluctant to ride his mount forward as he felt the pace of the event was being run at standard time and he would have had to make use of his mount to cross KILINDINI.

He stated that when KILINDINI then improved back to his inside near the 850 Metres, DRAGON STAR commenced to race a little keenly and as a result maintained its position to the outside of KILINDINI for some distance thereafter.

Horse No 5 SNOWALOT (E397) Z Purton From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 HARRY'S HERO (H332) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly.

Horse No 7 TURIN WARRIOR (G150) K Teetan From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 8 KILINDINI (E236) L Ferraris Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the right side of its barrier and became unbalanced.

Then shifted in and bumped COMET SPLENDIDO.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 CALIFORNIA ICON (H404) B Avdulla In the early stages raced tight to the inside of KILINDINI.

After being crossed by KILINDINI near the 1200 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from the heels of that runner.

Near the 1000 Metres when KILINDINI was steadied when positioned to the inside of DRAGON STAR, CALIFORNIA ICON commenced to race keenly and was shifted to the outside of KILINDINI to avoid that runner.

Horse No 10 HAPPY FEELING (H443) A Hamelin Jumped awkwardly and then was crowded shortly after the start.

Horse No 11 PACKING WISHER (H448) C L Chau Shifted out on jumping and was bumped.

Horse No PO ON WAY (H201) M Chadwick Withdrawn on 26.3.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind and right fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter PACKING WISHER.

Before being allowed to race again, PO ON WAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
