Recap by phillip woo

After moving to the lead 250m out following a pace-stalking run, Sports Legend won with plenty in hand for a first win at his sixth local start. He relished a downgrade trying the Valley for the first time at his third outing for his new trainer. Easy Snip just got up along the inside for second after making his run five back on the fence. He enjoyed an economical run from gate one with a return to the course and distance of a win in December. Drifting favourite Dan Attack just missed out on second but did have every chance following a prominent run on the fence. He's continued to hold his condition well with placings in his past two runs following a win. My Intelligent filled the frame after chasing the speed one off in third. He has been racing reasonably well. E Universe ran on steadily after a rails run from midfield. He's not far off a bottom. The Khan was doing some nice work late after fading back to last from gate 12. He's made a good impression in his past two over this course. Super Charizzard ran on without threatening after biding his time two from the rear. He's still a work in progress.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (517) - THE CRAIGENGOWER CRICKET CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SPORTS LEGEND (H456) Y L Chung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 HOSS (H055) B Thompson Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 3 MASTER STROKE (J036) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

The performance of MASTER STROKE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MASTER STROKE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 E UNIVERSE (H151) E C W Wong Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with EASY SNIP.

Horse No 5 EASY SNIP (G211) C L Chau Bumped on jumping.

Leaving the 1100 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded by E UNIVERSE which shifted in and away from DAN ATTACK which was racing tight to the outside of MY INTELLIGENT.

When questioned regarding his riding out over the concluding stages, C L Chau stated that passing the 50 Metres EASY SNIP lay out which resulted in him having to correct his mount.

He said afterwards he was able to continue to ride his mount out but approaching the winning post he was concerned that his mount would continue to shift out which restricted his ability to ride it out to the finish of the event.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that his riding did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 SUPER CHARIZZARD (J184) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.

Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied when it commenced to race keenly and was positioned close to YOUTH POWER.

When questioned, K Teetan stated that after entering the Home Straight it was his intention to shift to the outside of YOUTH POWER to obtain clear running.

He stated that as he endeavoured to do so SUPER CHARIZZARD hung in and was reluctant to shift to that runner's outside which resulted in him then improving to the inside of YOUTH POWER.

He added over the concluding stages as he endeavoured to improve between GORGEOUS VITALITY and YOUTH POWER, YOUTH POWER shifted in and made contact with his mount which resulted in SUPER CHARIZZARD having difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
