After easily finding the front from gate 11, Colourful Prince drew clear in the straight for his first win of the term after placing in four of eight other starts this season. Favourite Sergeant Pepper stayed on nicely for second after chasing the speed one off in second. He kept on better with a 10-pound claimer aboard. Sky Song finished nicely along the inside for third after making his run five back on the fence. It was an encouraging debut effort. Oversubscribed had his chance but only plodded over the last 100m after a rails run from midfield. It was another honest effort. Lean Master gradually faded after chasing the speed wide without cover from gate 12. He had an excuse in the run carrying five pounds more following a win. King Invincible ran on without threatening from near the rear. He'll be an interesting one in Class Five. Well-fancied newcomer Spicy Spangle weakened with every chance after a prominent run on the fence. Super Fast Dragon was a non factor after getting impeded coming into the final bend travelling two from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (514) - CANAL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 SKY SONG (J159) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 2 SPICY SPANGLE (J087) Z Purton After the race, Z Purton reported that near the 600 Metres his mount, which was having its first race start, was reluctant to hold its position when racing to the inside of SERGEANT PEPPER and as a result became unbalanced and lost ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 UNIVERSAL BLAZE (J160) K Teetan Making the first turn near the 550 Metres hung out across the heels of CIRCUIT SEVEN and was severely checked.

The racing manners of UNIVERSAL BLAZE were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, UNIVERSAL BLAZE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 SUPER FAST DRAGON (G456) A Hamelin Shortly after the start raced tight to the inside of COLOURFUL PRINCE.

After the 550 Metres was hampered when taken wider by UNIVERSAL BLAZE.

After the race, A Hamelin reported that after being taken wider near the 550 Metres SUPER FAST DRAGON did not travel well thereafter and finished the race off in a disappointing manner.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 8 G ONE EXCELLENT (E359) C L Chau Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 10 PHILOS (H371) Y L Chung Bumped shortly after the start.

After the 200 Metres lay in and was reluctant to shift to the outside of SPICY SPANGLE.

Horse No 11 CIRCUIT SEVEN (D474) M F Poon Bumped heavily on jumping and became unbalanced.

Approaching the 100 Metres M F Poon dropped his right rein for some distance when he changed his whip through to his right hand.

Horse No 12 KING INVINCIBLE (H199) K C Leung K C Leung was fined the sum of $3,000 for failing to declare a probable 2 lb overweight on the horse at the time of declaration.

Shifted in at the start and made heavy contact with CIRCUIT SEVEN.
