Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Copartner Prance rolled forward to sit one off the rail in second 800m out and drew clear in the closing stages for the win. It was his first win at his fifth start but the writing had been on the wall. Valhalla ran on well for second after a prominent run on the fence. He continues to hold his condition well. Hayday grudgingly gave way after dictating the run from gate three. He was able to back up a placing on his last start. Winning Heart made late headway to snatch fourth after a patient ride three from the rear. He's shown some improvement in recent runs. Hercules ran on steadily to finish next best after settling on the rail in midfield. It was another honest effort. Plunged late, Beat Hollow was on his tippy toes 100m out after settling one off the rail in third from a middle draw. He's found things harder up in grade on his past two starts. Great Achiever kept on one-paced after settling wide without cover in midfield. He had an excuse. Street Conqueror never landed a blow after travelling wide with cover behind midfield for his new trainer despite a return to the level of a win in September.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (497) - GREEN ISLAND HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 STREET CONQUEROR (H341) K Teetan Checked shortly after the start.

After the race, K Teetan reported that after being interfered with shortly after the start his mount settled further back than intended and was not suited by the pace of the event being run outside of standard in the early and middle stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 COPARTNER PRANCE (H408) Z Purton Shifted out shortly after the start despite the efforts of its rider.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 GALE SAGA (J152) A Atzeni For some distance approaching the 50 Metres raced tight between BEAT HOLLOW and WINNING HEART, both of which shifted ground slightly.

Horse No 5 GREAT ACHIEVER (J049) C L Chau In the middle stages raced keenly and from the 850 Metres was obliged to race wide and without cover.

Horse No 6 MANYTHANKS FOREVER (J065) A Hamelin Shortly after the start was severely checked when crowded between GREAT ACHIEVER and LAPRAS which was taken out by STREET CONQUEROR which shifted out after being checked away from COPARTNER PRANCE when that runner shifted out despite the efforts of its rider Z Purton.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 LAPRAS (H374) H Bentley Checked shortly after the start.

When questioned, H Bentley stated that after being checked shortly after the start he then commenced to shift his mount in in the early stages to take a position on the rail and to the inside of WINNING HEART.

He said as he was shifting in at an acute angle, LAPRAS continued in despite his efforts, made heavy contact with the running rail near the 1000 Metres and as a result became badly unbalanced.

H Bentley was advised that in similar circumstances he should exercise more care and ensure that he does not shift his mounts across at such an acute angle.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, LAPRAS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 8 VALHALLA (E495) K De Melo Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 WINNING HEART (H065) A Badel Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 11 SAME TO YOU (H057) Y L Chung In the early stages raced keenly and near the 900 Metres got its head up and ran wide when being steadied away from STREET CONQUEROR.

Horse No SAVVY CHIC (G261) B Avdulla Withdrawn on 12.3.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter HERCULES.

Before being allowed to race again, SAVVY CHIC will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
