Racing Incident Report
Race Three : (381) - JAFFE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 WOOD ON FIRE (C460) K C Leung Jumped awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 2 EXUBERANT (E282) B Avdulla Crowded shortly after the start.
After the race, B Avdulla expressed concern with his mount's action which lay in over the concluding stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, EXUBERANT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 3 GALLANT VALOUR (H323) Z Purton Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied away from TELECOM SPEED.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 LYRICAL MOTION (G081) E C W Wong Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 5 KILINDINI (E236) K Teetan Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
Horse No 6 FAST AS ROCKET (H375) C L Chau An inquiry was opened into the reason for C L Chau being dislodged from FAST AS ROCKET approaching the 1000 Metres.
After taking evidence from C L Chau and H Bowman, the rider of TELECOM SPEED, the Stewards found that near the 1000 Metres FAST AS ROCKET shifted out across the heels of TELECOM SPEED, resulting in FAST AS ROCKET striking the heels of that runner, blundering and C L Chau being dislodged.
The Stewards determined that the racing manners of FAST AS ROCKET were the reason for it striking the heels and blundering.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
The Stewards ruled that FAST AS ROCKET will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend in the Hong Kong and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
C L Chau was subsequently examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.
Horse No 7 FLYING ROMANTIC (J057) A Atzeni A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 TELECOM SPEED (G259) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 DIAMOND SOARS (G201) L Ferraris Jumped awkwardly and was bumped.
After the race, L Ferraris reported that his mount was not suited by being pressured in the lead by CHIU CHOW BROTHER and as a result was unable to finish the race off.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 HIGH PERCENTAGE (G413) L Hewitson Bumped on jumping.
From the 300 Metres until near the 200 Metres was held up for clear running.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on HIGH PERCENTAGE at the request of Trainer T P Yung.
The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, HIGH PERCENTAGE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 11 YEABOI (G372) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.
Sent for sampling post-race.

After hitting the front 180m out, Telecom Speed drew clear for a second win at his 20th start. He had run with merit in five earlier Valley 1,200m starts. Yeaboi made good ground late down the outside to grab second in deep stretch after a patient ride two from the rear. It was his best run from six starts with a step back in distance. Favourite Gallant Valour finished well for third after a one-off trip from midfield. It was another honest effort following a win two starts ago. Lyrical Motion had to settle for fourth after chasing the speed wide without cover from gate 10. He was expected to find things harder from his gate and carrying more weight after two wins. Kilindini just held his ground after a one-out, one-back run. It was another honest effort but he lacks the will to win. Chiu Chow Brother gradually faded after sharing the lead with Diamond Soars from gate nine. He'll be a force to be reckoned with in Class Five. High Percentage was one paced when finally gaining a run 200m out following a box-seat trip. Fast As Rocket lost his rider after clipping heels 900m out.
