Racing Incident Report
Race Six : (356) - DIAMOND HILL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 SUPER GOLDI (H477) K C Leung When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, K C Leung explained that his pre-race instructions were to endeavour to gain cover in a midfield position from his barrier, however, in the early stages a number of runners to his inside continued to go forward and he was obliged to settle further back in the field than intended or otherwise be caught extremely wide.
He added that rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Home Straight he was unable to place his mount under pressure when held up for clear running until passing the 300 Metres.
Horse No 3 GENEVA (J114) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 LE MAILLOT JAUNE (J034) Y L Chung After passing the 900 Metres was eased when awkwardly placed between GANGNAM STAR and STRATHPEFFER.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 GANGNAM STAR (H326) H Bentley After passing the 900 Metres got unbalanced when tightened for room for a short distance between MANYTHANKS FOREVER which lay out and STRATHPEFFER which shifted in after being contacted on the hindquarters by GANGNAM STAR which shifted out in this incident.
Horse No 11 MASSIVE TALENT (H282) M Chadwick Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 13 VANTASTIC CHOICE (G401) A Badel After the race, A Badel reported that it was not his intention to lead, but after his mount jumped well, he made the decision to go forward rather than being caught wide.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 14 STRATHPEFFER (H095) K Teetan Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 9 COMPASSION SUPER (G283) M L Yeung After being loaded into the barriers became fractious, reared and hit its head on the barrier partition.
Removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was not suitable to race.
Acting on this advice, COMPASSION SUPER was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, COMPASSION SUPER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No HANDSOME BOMB (H402) C Y Ho Withdrawn on 19.1.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter EVER VICTORIOUS.
Before being allowed to race again, HANDSOME BOMB will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Well-backed Massive Talent held off favourite Geneva after hitting the front 200m out following a rails run from better than midfield for a first win at his sixth start. Geneva ran on nicely for second after a one-off trip from midfield. It a good effort on debut and he'll be winning in no time. Super Goldi dashed well for third after peeling out for a clear run 300m out following a patient ride third last from a tricky gate. It was another solid effort carrying more weight following a win. Strathpeffer ran well to take fourth after a wide without cover trip from behind midfield. He keeps promising without delivering. Gangnam Star ran on steadily to nearly fill the frame after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He's flashed some ability in each of his four starts. Manythanks Forever made some ground after travelling behind midfield on the fence. He's still learning the ropes but hasn't disgraced on either of his two starts. Po On Way left things too late settling last from gate 10. Vantastic Choice tamely faded after clearing to the lead from gate 13. Compassion Super was restless in the stall and withdrawn.
