Racing Incident Report
Race Four : (354) - CHEUNG SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 MIDORI BEAUTY (G334) K De Melo Slow to begin.
Held up for clear running from after passing the 300 Metres until near the 200 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 SUPER COMMANDER (D350) E C W Wong Apprentice E C W Wong lost the use of his right stirrup iron on jumping before regathering it a short distance later.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 FUN ELITE (J042) L Hewitson Jumped very awkwardly and lost ground.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 RUBYLOT (H412) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 SUPER AXIOM (E105) Y L Chung Near the 100 Metres was checked severely when weakening.
Horse No 8 GLORY B (H373) H Bentley Blundered on jumping and then was checked and became very unbalanced when being bumped by SUPER COMMANDER which shifted out before being straightened by its rider.
As a result of this incident, H Bentley lost the use of his left stirrup iron before regathering it near the 900 Metres.
Noted to have lost its right front plate after the race.
Horse No 9 PANDA (H466) K Teetan Near the 700 Metres was eased when tightened for room by SPEEDY FORTUNE which was laying out and was also taken out by HAYDAY which was inconvenienced when having to avoid the heels of SUPER COMMANDER.
Near the 500 Metres was checked severely when again crowded for room by SPEEDY FORTUNE which continued to lay out away from HAYDAY which shifted out slightly.
Whilst the degree of interference suffered by PANDA was significant, the Stewards were satisfied that the main contributing factor to these incidents was the racing manners of SPEEDY FORTUNE and that no rider error was involved, therefore no further action was taken.
Held up for clear running over the final 150 Metres and near the 100 Metres was checked severely when disappointed for a clear run between SUPER AXIOM and SUPER COMMANDER.
In this incident, SUPER AXIOM was also checked severely when weakening.
K Teetan was reprimanded that whilst he may have been in an awkward position on the heels of SUPER COMMANDER, it is an offence under the Rules when endeavouring to obtain clear running where there is insufficient room.
Horse No 12 SPEEDY FORTUNE (H097) Z Purton Had a tendency to lay out during the race.
Horse No 13 HO HO STAR (H291) A Badel After passing the 100 Metres, when commencing to improve, was steadied and shifted in to avoid FUN ELITE and in doing so was again steadied to avoid VALIANT ELEGANCE.
Horse No 14 JAZZ CLUB (G285) M Chadwick After passing the 300 Metres shifted in abruptly from behind VALIANT ELEGANCE to obtain clear running.
Horse No RISE COMPANIONS (J113) J McDonald Withdrawn on 19.1.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left front tendon injury) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter VALIANT ELEGANCE.
Before being allowed to race again, RISE COMPANIONS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Rubylot jumped out of his skin late to just deny Midori Beauty in the final few strides after a patient ride second last for a first win at his fifth start. He had been knocking on the door and the step back in distance worked the oracle. Midori Beauty was just denied after weaving a run to lead 50m out from behind midfield. It was a solid effort. Speedy Fortune found a couple just too good after making his way to the front 150m out following a prominent run on the stands side. Jazz Club closed off well for fourth after switching into the open 200m out from behind midfield in the centre of the course. It was clearly his best run. Sky Trust made ground near the far side to finish next best without threatening the top four after biding his time four from the rear. Fun Elite whacked on one paced after recovering from a slow start to travel midfield. He had an excuse. Valiant Elegance just plodded when asked for an effort following a handy run. He continues to disappoint. Panda was badly hampered when trying to improve between the tiring leaders Super Axiom and Super Commander near the 100m following a rails run from behind midfield.
