Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Volcanic Spark weaved a run to just edge Master Toronado after peeling off heels 200m out travelling five back on the fence following a tardy start for a maiden win at his third start. Master Toronado did everything right but get the win after hitting the lead 60m out following a prominent run on the fence. Patch Of Time kept on gamely for third after turning the final bend narrowly on top leading from gate 11. He's not far off a win after running well in three of four starts. Plunged late Aca Power ran on nicely for fourth after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was a pleasing effort despite a return to turf. Kasi Farasi made ground late to finish next best after a wide trip towards the rear. He rarely produces a bad run. Happy For All only plodded in the last 100m after serving it up to the leader upon straightening following a pace-stalking run from gate 13. Second favourite Fighting Machine never threatened after making his run at the rear from gate 14. The combination of a wide draw and big weight following a win took its toll.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (337) - NAM SANG WAI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 SUPER HIGHWAY (G050) M Chadwick Slow to begin and then was slightly hampered when the inside starting gate rebounded.

Held up near the 350 Metres when being directed to the outside of GLORY CLOUD to obtain clear running.

Horse No 2 FIGHTING MACHINE (J015) Z Purton Leaving the 800 Metres was steadied away from DUBLIN STAR.

Passing the 250 Metres was taken wider by KASI FARASI which shifted out and away from SUPER HIGHWAY after being taken out slightly by that runner.

After the race, Z Purton stated that his mount settled back in the field as expected, but with the slow pace in the middle stages found it difficult to finish the race off, particularly when having to make a wide run on the Home Turn.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse had returned an abnormal heart rate requiring further assessment.

Following further assessment of the abnormal heart rate, the Stewards will consider if any further action is taken against the horse.

Horse No 3 HAPPY FOR ALL (H181) K C Leung Bumped near the 200 Metres.

Horse No 5 TOP PEAK (H441) C L Chau After the race, C L Chau reported that his mount hung out rounding the Home Turn and in the Home Straight and did not finish the race off strongly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of TOP PEAK was considered to be disappointing as compared to its first race start.

Before being allowed to race again, TOP PEAK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 6 WINNING HEART (H065) Y L Chung Near the 1000 Metres commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from HAPPY FOR ALL.

Making the Home Turn was taken wider when TOP PEAK hung out.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
