Racing Incident Report
Race Ten : (324) - BUTTERFLY HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 SUPER SUNNY SING (G319) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.
Near the 900 Metres, when being steadied to obtain cover behind BEAUTY LIVE, was steadied away from the heels of that runner.
Horse No 2 THE GOLDEN SCENERY (E379) Y L Chung Near the 1200 Metres when the pace steadied HELIOS EXPRESS (H Bowman) was shifted in to obtain cover behind BOURBONAIRE, resulting in THE GOLDEN SCENERY, which had commenced to race keenly, being steadied to avoid HELIOS EXPRESS.
H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.
From the 400 Metres until the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.
Near the 150 Metres was disappointed for a run to the inside of SUPER SUNNY SING (C Y Ho) when that runner shifted in.
In this incident, THE GOLDEN SCENERY blundered.
C Y Ho will be asked to exercise more care.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 HELIOS EXPRESS (H302) H Bowman H Bowman was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 250 Metres (see BEAUTY LIVE).

Horse No 6 BOURBONAIRE (E365) A Hamelin Leaving the 1300 Metres commenced to race keenly when being steadied away from FLAMING RABBIT after FLAMING RABBIT was steadied to take up a position outside ALL FOR ST PAUL'S.
Near the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between BEAUTY LIVE and HELIOS EXPRESS (H Bowman) which shifted out when not clear.
H Bowman was reprimanded.

Leaving the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between BOURBONAIRE and SPIRITED EXPRESS which shifted out slightly.
Then did not obtain clear running until the 200 Metres.

Horse No 13 BEAUTY LIVE (G057) M Chadwick H Bowman (HELIOS EXPRESS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 250 Metres he allowed his mount to shift to the outside of FLAMING RABBIT when insufficiently clear of BEAUTY LIVE, resulting in BEAUTY LIVE being awkwardly placed on the heels of HELIOS EXPRESS and having to be steadied to avoid the heels of HELIOS EXPRESS.
H Bowman was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 17 January 2024 at Happy Valley.
In addition, Jockey Bowman was fined $55,000.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 1 and also considered his neutral race riding record.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Helios Express showed a really good turn of foot to win going away 180m out after switching out of traffic for a clear run 300m travelling midfield on the fence for a fourth win from six starts. Spirited Express weaved a run late to edge The Best Peach for second after settling four back on the inside. He improved on a good fourth last start at the Valley. The Best Peach came from last and near the outside to just miss second. He's racing well without winning. Mr Ascendency ran on well to spice up the Quartet after a patient ride two from the rear. It was his best run in nearly a year and second up this season following a dull run in October. Plunged late Alacrity had his chance but only plodded after a box seat run. Super Sunny Sing ran on without threatening after a four-wide trip without cover from behind midfield. He had a clear excuse. Flaming Rabbit weakened over the last 100m after a pace-stalking run from gate nine. He's been a disappointment in four runs this term. Dancing Code made only a mild bid after straightening near last ridden for luck from gate 12. The step up to 1,600m didn't pan out.
