Recap by phillip woo
Xponential shook off challenges for the lead first by Campione and then Ping Hai Galaxy before holding off Seasons Wit in a bob of the heads for a seventh career win on both surfaces from 46th start. Favourite Seasons Wit made it close on the wire after a prominent run. It was a terrific effort at his first start on the surface. Chancheng Prince ran on nicely to finish a close third after a rails run from behind midfield. He's always a chance on this surface but is better suited over the 1,650m. Hit late to jump favourite, Majestic Star ran on reasonably well for fourth after a patient ride one from the rear. It was another honest effort. Youthful Deal came up one-paced after a one-off trip from midfield. He does appear to have hit his mark. Campione gradually faded after chasing the speed wide without cover from gate six. He had an excuse but will be one worth keeping safe with Class Three looming large. Computer Patch never got into the act ridden last from an outside draw. Ping Hai Galaxy faded in the straight drive after putting it to the leader 800m out. He appears from his past two starts to be on his mark following a win.
