Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Splendid Star travelled fourth last before swooping widest out to add a Happy Valley win to his Sha Tin success earlier this season. Loyal Ambition ran on strongly from the rear with one wider out to take second after enduring a troubled beginning. It was a return to form after he had shown next to nothing in his previous four starts. Regency Happy Star circled the field from near last to lead 600m out and kept on well for a placing. President's Choice made headway late for fourth after Zac Purton rode him patiently one from the rear. He is in the right grade but prefers Sha Tin. Precision Goal kept on all right after Regency Happy Star took the lead from him in the middle stages. He is not far off a bottom. Fortune Master did not go around a horse and ran on steadily from worse than midfield to finish the next best. United Endeavors only held his ground after enduring a wide trip towards the back of the field. He had an excuse. Cordyceps One did not land a blow after Lyle Hewitson hustled the barrier rogue out of the gates to find the fence in a prominent spot.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (188) - SHEK PIK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 CORDYCEPS ONE (E107) L Hewitson After the race, L Hewitson stated that his mount did not appreciate the early pace of the event being run inside of standard time.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of L Hewitson, 7th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he rides his mounts out fully to the finish of the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 GET THE MONIES (G168) L Ferraris Approaching the 500 Metres bumped with PERFECT ROCK when endeavouring to shift to the outside of NICE BIRDIE.

Approaching the 300 Metres became held up behind NICE BIRDIE and was then shifted to that runner's outside to secure clear running and raced tight between NICE BIRDIE and PERFECT ROCK for a short distance thereafter and made contact with PERFECT ROCK.

After the race, L Ferraris reported that his mount raced keenly in the early stages and for some distance after the 1200 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from CORDYCEPS ONE.

He added that the horse made an abnormal respiratory noise during the running of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, GET THE MONIES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 3 PRESIDENT'S CHOICE (D038) Z Purton Jumped awkwardly and then was bumped.

Horse No 5 SPLENDID STAR (G026) K Teetan Despite being ridden along in the early stages was unable to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 NICE BIRDIE (G470) K C Leung After the race, K C Leung could offer no excuse for his mount's disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 REGENCY HAPPY STAR (H248) A Badel Over the concluding stages lay out under pressure.

When questioned, A Badel stated that his instructions were to obtain a midfield position early and he was given the option of making a mid-race move if circumstances permitted as REGENCY HAPPY STAR had performed well when ridden in this manner in the past.

He added whilst the pace of the event was run inside of standard throughout the early and middle stages, entering the Back Straight he felt there was an opportunity to allow REGENCY HAPPY STAR to stride forward and as a result he shifted to the outside to allow his mount to cross and eventually lead from the 600 Metres.

Horse No 8 PRECISION GOAL (H016) C L Chau Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded.

Near the 600 Metres became unbalanced when crowded by REGENCY HAPPY STAR (A Badel) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.

A Badel was severely reprimanded.

A short distance later was then steadied when REGENCY HAPPY STAR crossed to the rail.

A Badel was reprimanded and advised he must ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground.

Horse No 9 LOYAL AMBITION (E489) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and was checked shortly after the start when crowded.

Was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier.

After the 400 Metres became held up behind SUPER JOY before shifting to that runner's outside to improve.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 SUPER JOY (G251) M Chadwick Slow to begin.

After the race, M Chadwick reported that his mount over-raced throughout the event and refused to settle and he was placed at some disadvantage when the bit shifted in the horse's mouth.

He added as a result SUPER JOY was unable to finish the race off due to its racing manners in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 PERFECT ROCK (G175) M F Poon Bumped approaching the 300 Metres.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
