Race Three : (159) - PANASONIC 4KTV HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 INVINCIBLE SAGE (H301) H Bowman Approaching the 300 Metres was held up for clear running between METRO WARRIOR and SPORTS LEGEND and when improving into that run made contact with METRO WARRIOR at the 250 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 PLEASANT ENDEAVOR (E114) Y L Chung Bumped approaching the 300 Metres.
Horse No 3 SPARKLING KNIGHT (C201) A Hamelin Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 METRO WARRIOR (D387) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly and then was bumped shortly after the start.
Bumped at the 250 Metres.
Horse No 5 GOLDEN DARCI (H470) Z Purton Bumped at the start.
After the race, Z Purton stated that the horse, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, would derive benefit from today's performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 SPORTS LEGEND (H456) A Atzeni A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 THE GREAT MASTER (H457) M F Poon As C L Chau was unable to fulfil the engagement on THE GREAT MASTER due to being overweight, M F Poon was substituted as the rider of that horse.
C L Chau was fined the sum of $5,000.
Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped GOLDEN DARCI.
Shortly after the start M F Poon dropped his right rein before being quickly regathered.
Horse No 8 EURO ROCKS (H153) M L Yeung Became fractious whilst being saddled and made heavy contact with a rail.
Examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
Lay in over the final 400 Metres when placed under pressure.
Horse No 9 SUMMIT CHEERS (E221) A Badel Approaching the 300 Metres was directed to the inside of SPORTS LEGEND to secure clear running and in doing so bumped with PLEASANT ENDEAVOR.
Horse No 10 SUPER COMMANDER (D350) K Teetan Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of K Teetan, 6th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.
After the race, K Teetan reported that his mount jumped only fairly and he had to make some use of SUPER COMMANDER to lead the event.
He stated that as a result SUPER COMMANDER did not finish the race off strongly and, in his opinion, is also better suited on firm tracks.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Favourite Invincible Sage had to await a run but quickened very well when a gap opened 250m out to nail Sparkling Knight in deep stretch for a second straight win. He's heading places. Sparkling Knight wouldn't go down without a fight after claiming the lead 300m out following speed-chasing run on the grandstand side. He's hard to catch right on his day but is always a chance over the straight 1,000m. Summit Cheers ran on nicely near the far side for third without threatening the top two after settling one from the rear. It was a good run up in grade following a win. Euro Rocks ran on well to edge Pleasing Endeavour for fourth after a patient ride two from the rear. He ran well trying the minimum trip for the first time. Pleasing Endeavor whacked on one-paced after a prominent run near the far side. It was a better run. Plunged late Super Commander was stopping 100m out after dictating the run from gate two. He couldn't follow up back-to-back placings. Metro Warrior weakened after chasing the leading pair from gate seven.
