Race Seven : (98) - RACING SPIRIT HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 2 ROMANTIC LAOS (G476) Z Purton Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 VIVA HUNTER (E369) H Bowman After the race, H Bowman stated that his mount was able to settle outside the lead in the early stages, but when asked for an effort in the Home Straight did not respond to his riding.
He added when it commenced to give ground and was not in a competitive position, he desisted from riding it to the finish of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 OUTGATE (H113) Y L Chung Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 C P BRAVE (E306) K C Leung Was slow to begin.
Was held up making the Home Turn.
Horse No 6 RED MAJESTY (E028) L Hewitson Approaching the 1300 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from the heels of CAPITAL LEGEND.
Approaching the 250 Metres was shifted to the outside of SHOW RESPECT to attempt to secure clear running but as a result became awkwardly placed behind ESCAPE ROUTE and was steadied near the 200 Metres.
After the race, L Hewitson stated that the intention was to hold a forward position.
He said on jumping he rode his mount along in an endeavour to comply with his instructions, but when RED MAJESTY showed insufficient pace to hold a forward position, he elected to shift his mount behind runners to avoid covering additional ground.
Horse No 8 CHARITY BINGO (H254) L Ferraris From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 10 SILVER SONIC (H171) H Bentley After the race, H Bentley reported that his mount did not appreciate the "Yielding??track conditions.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 SHOW RESPECT (H138) A Atzeni Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 12 THESIS (H111) A Badel Jumped awkwardly.
Was sent for sampling post-race.

Outgate turned the final bend nearly two lengths on top and kept finding under pressure to go wire to wire. His switch to Happy Valley worked the oracle after his first-up Sha Tin second. Thesis just denied firming favourite Romantic Laos for second after travelling midfield on the rail. He looks to have improved after leaving Richard Gibson and joining Frankie Lor Fu-chuen. Romantic Laos stayed on well for third after getting all the favours in the box seat. It was another good effort carrying eight pounds more than his last-start win. Capital Legend ran on well from worse than midfield to fill the frame. He has performed well to fill the frame in two of his past three C&D runs. Well-rated C P Brave made headway late to finish the next best. It was a better effort first up for his new trainer, Ricky Yiu Poon-fai. Charity Bingo made good ground late down the outside after taking off from last 400m from home. Show Respect will sleep well after getting posted wide without cover better than midfield. Viva Hunter did not find much after his pace-stalking run outside the winner.
